This week in "what did my brain make up":

Mark Fitzpatrick played for CGY (must have been thinking of the wrong backup), and Steve Olesky played for FLA (must have got him and Oreskovich sort of... merged?)

Knew Jessiman would be a high number, so I went with Sanguinetti - correct call! :biglaugh:

Also, forgot Burns won a Norris, sooo that is probably the single highest score on one square I've ever gotten! :help:

So, everybody's favourite Finn is very popular on 1000gp + under 50 playoff gp:laugh::facepalm:
Made up for it with a few former Avs on other categories, though:D

Why do so many people remember those combos for Ray, Schroeder and Moulson? :help:

Also: swing and a miss on Nick Leddy (936 GP :banghead:) and Tomas Kaberle (984 GP and apparently 102 playoff GP??? Had a longer career than I thought!)

One of my better games, but it's frustrating how yet again, the bulk of my score came from my last couple picks (Simmer + Demitra). Almost did Jake Dowell for MIN/CHI, but thought I was imagining him playing for MIN (I know he played for DAL, thought I was confusing my green teams... :help:)

I misunderstood the "Active NHL Contract" category as "any player with an active NHL contract who played for [team]", rather than "players with active NHL contracts with [team] currently". Too bad, Zac Dalpe would have been a great pick!

[PHI/BUF] Craig Ramsay (Stop hallucinating head coaches having played for the same team!)

[FLA/BUF] Robert Svehla (not sure which Dman I got him confused with, but definitely someone... Edit: It was Rhett Warriner, uggggh)

[FLA/Jagr teammate] Radim Vrbata (thought I could get away with picking a fellow Czech that surely played on a national team with him... nope!)

Tough goalie category, so I played it safe. Could have gone with guys like Smith, Fernandez, Hackett, Emery and so forth, but was hesitant on account of goalies having a small sample size with a team is usually for a reason, plus what years each team was good can also steer me away...

Have any of you tried getting the higest score? Might be a fun little experiment for a couple days
Sounds like a good time, but I'm just way more interested in how obscure I can get off of memory... But, I do have a fun idea that I'm waiting for that will certainly jack up my uniqueness score, it just requires a couple of key teams in combination, and no funky third columns like goalies stats, high numbers of points, played for one/two/three teams, etc... Hopefully soon! :crossfing

Doug Weight: 1033 Pts (ugh)
Brian Rafalski: 515 Pts (forgot how short his career was...)

and finally:

Rod Brind'amour: 1484GP, 1184 Pts. (AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!)

...did fine on the other 4 squares, though... :rolly:

Not every day one gets to use Norwegian former Av Anders Myrvold:nod: A total of four people have picked him, I and a colleague are two of them:laugh:

A whopping 2% for Super Joe on 1200+1200, but Sundin for the 'Nucks was 15%

Played for the first time today and Its way harder than it appear. What the concensus, are we suppose to do "research" or its fair play to only do from memory?

There no way am doing sub 1% from memory consistently. I got two but also a lot of my shot where radko gudas into shattered plexi.

I was trying to be a smartass plugging kassian for montreal and apparently I didn't read the rules correctly.

Well depends who you’re competing against but the way me and my friends and I guess most people do it is that it has to be 100% from memory. It’s part of the fun that you might feel like player X could fit into that slot but you have to weigh the risk of missing it instead of going for the safe but high uniqueness option. I have no idea how people here get such low uniquenesses, I have memorized some the teams of a few pretty unique players but there’s no way I would be able to remember so many that I would be able to pull off a full grid of sub 1.0% players.

I don't know why someone would play this without going 100% from memory. If you're looking up answers (and those who get those ridiculous scores definitely look it up), then it's not even a game.

Put it this way, I've been watching hardcore since '93. I used to buy the hockey almanac and actually read through it every year, played every new EA game, played hardcore fantasy hockey for a good decade before moving to sim hockey AND have been creating player ratings for sim hockey for over a decade now which requires researching everyone who plays at least a single NHL game every season... and I don't get anywhere close to these sub 1.0% grids that people post.

Not to say that I'm the hockey player memory god, and other people can't know more than me about it. Just highlighting that I have a really, really, really solid base of knowledge on NHL players and I don't even approach those numbers, so I don't believe it in the slightest if someone posts a full grid of sub 1.0% players day after day without looking it up. And circling back to the original point, if you're looking up the answers you're not actually playing a game at that point, you're simply doing player research.
