I was told we would have to add due to the negative value and lack of fit anywhere.

The 2nd is in 2027? Could be a pretty dece pick in that case.

So given this trade, we must be bringing in another forward. Who’s left on the market, or know to be up for grabs?

No retention? No cap going the other way? If so I'll kiss Dubas's ring. I assumed the return for Smith would be less than what we paid for him, or we would have to retain.

Now go use the cap to fix the PP. Can we still fit Laine?

2027? Even if you hit that players not ready until 2030 at the earliest. More likely 2032.
I’m not immortal Dubas and I will not improve my diet to live longer because of you!

Impressed with the return even if those picks are on the never-never

Meh. One year deal with 25% retention. I don't think it's that impressive to get a 2nd three years out.

It has to be someone else, no? We still have cap to play with this year.

I mean if you want to get your hopes up. Feel free brother.

We got assets to get rid of a guy who obviously needed to go. Retention for one year probably isn't a problem.

Now we have a Reilly Smith++ sixed hole in the forward group. Who fills it?

It’s not about getting my hopes up. I’m just curious to see what we do.

Tarasenko on a 1 year deal to swap out at the deadline for a low round pick? Or even using the cap space to facilitate a cap dump.

A 2nd and 5th is about right for 25% retention for a player like Smith. Happy to have him gone though it's a shame Malkin ruined his season, I guess. Second round pick is in 2027 I think.

Decent enough deal I guess. At least we didn't have to take back some useless slug this time.

Retention now = Petry and Smith? This means an EK65 trade at the deadline is possible. If we are out of it I expect that to happen.
