What would be the return? Similar to Nyquist?
IMO they have to. With the JT Miller trade they can lose this year, keep their pick - and then give PIT their 1st next year.Quick retool and come back next year strong ?
He has been pretty bad for NYr. Plus I doubt they plan to resign him so moving him now makes a lot of sense.
If they can get a 2nd for him like what Nashville got for Nyquist that would be amazing.
You just NAILED it!Quick retool and come back next year strong ?
White towel is waiving. The amusing part is that it game off a game where they actually played well but lost. (Toronto)
This was a stretch of where they had 4 games until the deadline and needed to start with at least 3 wins to avoid the sell. I personally would rather keep the 2026 pick, but maybe they think picking inside the top 13 is better.
He hasn't been bad, he's been what he has been in 3 of the last 5 seasons. A 30-40+ point guy.He has been pretty bad for NYr. Plus I doubt they plan to resign him so moving him now makes a lot of sense.

Colorado ?Should only be a 3rd but prices this year seem pretty crazy.
But is he worth $5 million for that production? NoHe hasn't been bad, he's been what he has been in 3 of the last 5 seasons. A 30-40+ point guy.
Hes also don't this while being bounced around the line up with no real set of line mates.
Would he be a 50+ guy, no, that's no longer in his future, but he's been serviceable.
Should be a solid pick up for a top end team.
That is more telling then playing bad and losing. Everyone can play bad and lose. But if you play well and still lose? It the proof needed to demonstrate that this is not a good team.White towel is waiving. The amusing part is that it game off a game where they actually played well but lost. (Toronto)
I think if they were inside the wild card we don't see these moves take place, regardless of how little impact it has on the team. Drury wanted to make a splash early in the season and it back fired on them. The plan wasn't to just sell all UFA's because guys like Riley Smith aren't players you worry about losing for nothing. Getting further and further away from that wild card spot, Fox getting injured, and watching other teams continue to win definitely pushed them into acknowledging that it's not likely this season.Waving the white towel isn’t really what’s happening here. This middle course has been the plan since at least December.
He's not taking 5M of the cap, or costing any team 5m in salary. But is he worth $5 million for that production? No

Doubtful unless the plan is to spend a ton free agency this summerQuick retool and come back next year strong ?
My guess is that Drury thinks they can get back to the playoffs next year.
I have the sense as well that this team is embarrassed by the year they've had.
