Reffing has been quite questionable in the last game and it seemsed like they were trying to bring the momentum back towards the Lightning. Hopefully the organization puts in a complaint to the league regarding the reffing bias against the Leafs.

I think the league needs to bring in the coaching challenge in the NHL like it has in the NBA. There was 2 clear questionable Call/Non-Calls that were going against the Leafs.

Muzzin's phantom hooking call
Vasilevskey's playing with the puck outside the crease Non-call.
The Leafs have spent 28:20 on the PP and TB has spent 28:07 on the PP.

Two delay of game calls which are auto calls and non judgemental.

I've never been so frustrated with the reffing against the Leafs as I have the last few years, in the playoffs speficially.

Before the back to back Boston series fiascos, I really only felt a screw job from Fraser when Gretzky high sticked Gilmour. Even Fraser himself admitted he "missed it" (I call bs, he just didn't want to call it on Wayne and the West Coast NHL expansion dreams at the time).

It just seems that refs don't want to call penalties in the Leafs favour as they feel it makes them look biased. Leafs ownership can't be blamed for the strong fan support the team has or the media attention they receive.

Call it straight, objectively and consistently. I don't want two early cold PPs to start the game only to have Leafs in the box four straight in a tight third period.

I think the devil is in the details, meaning, the timing of the penalties plays a part in the general frustration.

And maybe the league, at the end of the day, looks at the numbers, gives the thumbs up and stamps approved.

I'd even argue, most people get more upset with the non-calls than the calls, which is amusing since most of us are complaining about the number of calls that are already being made 🤣

Honestly the refs were ready when the game started, unlike the Leafs. It sucks but the reffing hasn't been atrocious, it's just predictably more or less even. It's softly called and clear as day they are actively trying to keep the game even. Just constant game management, party to induce a 7- game series and partly to keep the scrutiny off the league.

The refs have been terrible on both sides. They never call interference or hooking and have been making calls on events they thought happened instead of what actually happened. But its more the complete lack of consistency with the calls. I have no idea what they'll call anymore.

Still waiting for the NHL to address Tim Peels comments last year. Dude got to retire even tho he got caught on a hot mic. Are we suppose to believe it’s just him that one time? Lol k

And it’s not just the Leafs (as evident from the teams playing in that game).

Once you realize it’s a business.. it’s all about being on the right side of the rig.

How else is the NHL Office in NYC going to fix the games without involving the refs? Hire incompetent refs? Have the Director of Officiating and the head of The Department of Player Safety in Bettman's back pocket?

If the refs call the game fairly, we'll be fine.

Can someone breakdown the total minutes of the legit penalties to the Leafs and TB.
TB got at least 3 powerplays from diving... Perry x 2 and McDonough. Also the embellishment/Phantom call on Foote acting like he got shot, just off the top of my head.

Nothing will be done until the Leafs product actually begins to bleed money. Which it hasn't, even with 20 years without a series win. There's no incentize to make the calls fair. American teams will continue to benefit from calls in order to go further in the playoffs and thus grow viewership in the massively untapped US market. It is a simple business decision and as long as fans like us continue watching games and buying jerseys en masse, it'll never change. We're a very loyal, saturated fan base that will pack the stadium no matter what, there is no reason for us to win in the corporate eyes of the NHL.

The Foote "high stick" was bad and I'm sure that after seeing replays the refs were embarrassed.

You literally post on the Islanders board and refer to the team and the fans as "we" and you literally troll the Leafs on the main board.
Nobody should refreee to them self (fan) and a team as "we".

You are not part of the team.

We need to set the tone early.

put Clifford and Simmonds out for the opening faceoff and have them go with the refs.

I don't think there's a bias, I just think we've fallen victim to some obvious bad calls. Hockey is the hardest sport to officiate and the refs just don't really have the protocols in place to help them out. Something like Kampfs high stick should be reviewable since it would only take 10 extra seconds to make the right call
