Post-Game Talk: Ref Wings @ Sens

Omg! Karlsson made a mistake!

He's only our best and most consistent player by an astronomical unit. Can we move on now?

Edit: sorry it looks like most have moved on, and I just focused on a couple bad posts. Moving on...

Yea sure sweep it under the rug as usual. Had anyone else made that there would be an outrage.

Regardless of whether Anderson put him in a bad position or not he had ample time to make the safest play.

So what you are saying is when the team loses the guy playing in the #1 center position is to blame.

Using this logic, Turris must be the guy to blame for 21 loses and has obviously topped out and regressing to a not so solid #3. :sarcasm:

Your bias is hanging out.
What Bias ??Zibby hasnt been good at all ,iam not lying he has been a disappointment .He has had multiple winger,s on his line go ice cold ,everyone from Stone to Ryan and Hoffman ,i guess by your reasoning its their fault their center is usually clueless in the offensive zone??

Have somebody point out that we have allowed only 24 shots on goal.. Whatever if the game was "boring", if they need to play boring but steady in the Dzone, they should play like that.

Great win! Felt good to be emotionally invested for the first time in a little while!

Keep rolling Sens - don't even care if we miss the playoffs, fight right to the end! :handclap:

I really think we ***** too much about Zibanejad and his production...

I mean, I dunno, he's fairly comparable to some of the "great" young second line centermen around the league...

Seems like if a kid doesn't put up PPG stats by 21-22, he's a bust these days.

He's not a disappointment to anyone who's reasonable and knows something about hockey. His production is fine for his skills/age/experience, and he's very strong defensively most of the time. Anyone who thinks he's a disappointment either had unreasonable expectations or is clueless about the sport.

It's not about production, it's about consistency in his level of play. Nobody's saying he can't score.

I just get tired of hearing how he's failed, and then the implication that we need to start looking elsewhere for help.

He's 22 years old for crying out loud...

What are we saying he can't do? Be a good player defensively? Because he is actually very good defensively, on par with over half of the guys on that list.

Are we saying he can't carry the team offensively yet?

OK, well I guess that's true actually. But that doesn't mean we need to rip him apart every time he hits the ice.

So a problem 90% of the players in the league have.

Don't get me wrong, I like Zibby. He's young and he's prone to this kind of trend so I get that but he has very average this year. He's had some good stretch and he's producing even when he's not playing well so that's still decent.

If he's to be our second line center we need him to bring it every night. That doesn't mean scoring all the time. He could end up a 50 pt player and I'd be okay with that but he needs to be engaged in the play and help the team win in whatever way he can. The fact that he is young with "raw" potential doesn't make him immune to criticism. People called out Stone, Hoffman, Bobby, Methot and now Turris when they're not playing well.

Nobody is giving up on him though. If some are well they are clearly not thinking straight.

Can you please show me an example of 50pt second line center "who brings it every night".

I think that you and some other people need to realistically look at the situation today in the new NHL, and realize that very few players "bring it" every night.

Sidney Crosby doesn't bring it every night anymore.

Now look at Zibby for what he really is. A young, 50 pt, streaky offensively and physically, responsible defensively, second line center. And then it's not so bad.

Especially when you look around the league and see everyone else's 21-22 year old second line center doing the same thing.

The difference is we've seen Karlsson when he's on his game. This is the worst game I can remember for him in recent memory. One goal was kind of fluky and the other was a horrific no look pass. The rest of his game wasn't as bad.

That's a lot different from a guy like Cowen or Wiercioch who rarely have great/good games but had lots of bad ones.

Zibanejad can be so much better and I think that's why people complain so much. His raw ability is so obvious to even the most casual fan.

Consistency is an issue but he's still so young. He's not really treated as being young by fans since he's been around awhile. Easy to forget.

Thought he played well the last two games. His overall performance this season has been acceptable. He's produced. He'll produce even more as he matures.

So, the Wings won that game by a landslide.....according to advanced stats.

Yeah, you can read into it whatever you want. But we were out chanced heavily, even though the shots were pretty even. I think with the lineup as it is now, we still give up scoring chances, but we don't generate enough. Prince should come in for one of Chiasson, Lazar, Neil or Paul. Wideman should be in for Boro.
