Florida has 20 players signed and 6 million in cap space. After Ray and Seider are signed they are in a way better position than Detroit is for cap to value.Or they need they cap relief, he provides it, so he's the odd man out.

I’d take him in a heartbeat over Trouba but the question is at what coast? They’re going to want a very good prospect and a high pick to even start talks. If they retain or take any salary back they’ll want a second prospect. Like:

Not even that. If they want cap space, they can pay for it like everyone else.Absolutely not. No way on asp
They can have Johansson and a second. Maybe throw in mazur
And they laugh and send him to any other team that need defensive help. Ekblad, even if he’s not a #1 guy, is a #2 on a lot of teams, and with any retention he’s way better than anyone else that a team is going to get. They’re going to get a very good prospect and a pick for him without retention. They’re going to get more if they retain or take back salary.Absolutely not. No way on asp

The whole reason they are potentially moving him is to free up cap space. Florida isn't retaining on shit. They don't care about kids. They want to run it back as best they can. But they lost 2 of their 6 D and Ekblad is a bit too pricy the way that roster is balanced currently. And they laugh and send him to any other team that need defensive help. Florida doesn’t need cap space. Their only player they need to bring back is Lundell, and he won’t make anywhere the 6 million they have in space. After this year Ekblads contract is done and the year after that Bobs is doneNot even that. If they want cap space, they can pay for it like everyone else.
Not many teams right now able to pivot on a guy like Ekblad.

There is no universe in which Ekblad returns this much.I’d take him in a heartbeat over Trouba but the question is at what coast? They’re going to want a very good prospect and a high pick to even start talks. If they retain or take any salary back they’ll want a second prospect. Like:

Ok. But we're not giving up asp for a year old ekblad. No chance. And they laugh and send him to any other team that need defensive help. That's awful and SY would deserve good be fired if he did thatI’d take him in a heartbeat over Trouba but the question is at what coast? They’re going to want a very good prospect and a high pick to even start talks. If they retain or take any salary back they’ll want a second prospect. Like:

And if this was last week having a ton of cap space would make sense. There’s not much left worth spending a ton of money on. At that point they’re looking for a hockey trade and Detroit has nothing to bring to the table.View attachment 891534
Those three played 57 games combined in the regular season and 0 in the playoffs.
Not unless they’re getting an overpayment back in futures or it’s a hockey trade. If Florida just lost Montour, do they really need to move on from Ekblad?
Freeing up cap space for what/whom?
You'd think it was go sign a quality FA dman yesterday....none are left really
The smoke around the deal was it seemed they wanted to keep Montour. But his contract in Seattle was one Florida could have inked and worked out the minimal cap shuffle over the summer. If Florida is trying hard to move Ekblad it's because they have a move lined up and need him gone, and maybe a piece to come back to make another deal happen. That would be my guess.

The most concrete rumors that Florida wanted to move Ekblad were reported last week. The current rumors don’t nearly seem as reputable or even make sense.if it was over Montour they wouldn't still be looking to move Ekblad.
Third coast.I’d take him in a heartbeat over Trouba but the question is at what coast?
Florida doesn’t need cap space. They have 20 players and 6 million in space and their cap situation gets better over the next two seasons. They’re either looking to make a hockey trade which Detroit has nothing to offer or they’re looking for futures, which Detroit shouldn’t be a part of because that juice isn’t worth the squeeze. It's hard to move money right now. So I'll take Ekblad full salary + 1st in exchange for Maatta
They want Texas? That’s a big ask.Third coast.
I don't recall seeing anything about Ekblad last week. I believe this is all stemming from a rumor that was brought up yesterday on the NHL network and then also this Pagnotta dude. The most concrete rumors that Florida wanted to move Ekblad were reported last week.
