I didn't see his reaction. He look sad or something? It is apparently a close knit group but we need Carrier more than Barron. I'm looking forward to see Carrier play.

Same reaction as most trades actually.....the off-ice reactions is always harder.
I'm sure it wasn't easy either to see him sit out half the games either.

Can't wait to see where they will put him in the line-up....I think putting him next to Matheson makes the more sense because size factor...

Monty has played as a legit NHL#1 that gives you a chance to win on most nights. The discrepancy with Primeau is just massive. I’d go Monty back to back if the only option is Primeau.

Marty Brodeur used to play like 65 games a season... granted it was behind a tab better defense... but still. I think it will be good for Monty. Builds karakter.
Better defense, better goalie with a different style and different rules for goalies and the ozone.

Monty already started 24 games this season and there are 51 left. We aren't talking 65 games if Primeau turns into just a bench warmed and doesn't even play in the back-to-back anymore, but 75 games. Habs have 11 back to back left...

If MSL plays Monty back to back that says that Primeau is done. The last resort would be a conditional stint in Laval or waivers. Had Dobes not gotten hurt i believe he would be in Montreal right now.

Last year, we had a dumb triple goalie thing going on. Now we don't have a backup.

Amazing stuff.
They would have traded Allen to NJ early in the year but he didn't want to go. No way to know if anyone else was interested.

I think Hughes would have been called up.

It's way better for the prospects development if Laval has good goaltenders and if Dobes plays a lot of games instead of being the barely used backup in the NHL.

I’d expect Carrier to play with Guhle:

Hutson-Matheson
Guhle-Carrier
Xhekaj-Savard

The way Primeau has played this season I think they have no choice but to play Montembeault back to back, especially in a division game. I wouldn’t be surprised if they brought in a different backup goalie.

Not sure but I know he can play a mean saxophone.

Didn't research this much, but these are goaltenders who have missed time due to injury already this season:

Demko
Gibson
Ingram
Woll
Stolarz
Jarry
Nedeljkovic
Vanecek
Samsonov
Ersson
Tarasov
Vladar
Desmith
Kuemper
Forsberg
Ullmark
Allen
Talbot
Lyon
Gustafsson
Mrazek
Andersen
Varlamov

Only 3 goaltenders played 60 or more games last season (Hellebucyk 60, Georgiev 63, Saros 64). Only 4 teams used fewer then 3 goaltenders last season (Anaheim, Boston, St. Louis and Winnipeg).

Believe that shows the importance of having goaltending depth. Really thought the Habs would do more last summer, with Primeau's struggles now what is their plan beyond starting Monty almost every game?

Guhle & Xhekaj said they’re sad to see JB leave but glad he’s getting an opportunity.

Matheson mentionned he has trained with Carrier in the summer in the past, couple of guys in the team know him and they’re glad they’re getting a vet.

Management plan is not to start Monty almost every game, even if that appears to be MSL's plan.

Habs can call up one of the two goalies in Laval (Dobes/Hughes) if there is an injury.

Forgive my total ignorance on 3rd string goalie situations, but aren’t there a couple of teams still having a trio? Is any 3rd string better than Primeau?

Looking ahead to the annual Xmas road trip, what exactly is the aversion to the Habs having a homestand once every 5 years? All those shitty US markets will get their Habs snowbird sellout any time of year. Does the Bell Centre host a Christmas market or something?

There were a few teams, Detroit, Flyers...don't know if anyone is carrying three healthy guys right now though. Leafs are rumoured to be calling up Matt Murray with Stolarz out for quite awhile.

For the Habs, would think it will soon be time to give Dobes or Hughes a game or two in the NHL.

Murray is hurt again.

Agreed. It would be nice to have the team play in Montreal some Christmas. Kids are off school. People are generally off work.

The difference between your average starter and a 3rd string goalie is mostly experience and confidence.

Exemple Lankinen is confident this year.
