What a pile of shit move this is… Are we so quick to forget the instant credibility he brought to the team? The balls he added? We are softer now than we were before Tom Wilson beat us up in our front yard. Horrible, horrible short, sightedness, and yet we keep that absolute Stiff Carpenter.?

They didn't have the roster spot, and getting something of value is a nice bonus. He was a great locker room guy, but he couldn't keep up with the speed of the game anymore.

His lack of response in the BOS and CBJ games where he didn't step up after Sillinger and Pastrnak hurt Chytil and Lindgren was telling too.
He was a great locker room guy, that's qbout it.

He certainly didn't live up to the reputation he has build up throughout his career. He rarely stood up for his teammates in terms of fights when it was a reasonable thing for him to do.

He was disappointing.

That’s because his reputation was never true. He hasn’t been close to the top of the league in fights in like 8 years or something

Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam
Who in the cult is this?

If we look at this as the Rangers renting Reaves for a year in exchange for a swap of a 4th and a 5th this deal is fantastic. Drury brought in someone to serve a role here for minimal cost and just pretty much got that same price met after just over a year on the team.

3rd for a 5th, but your point stands. Reaves served his purpose while he was here.

He asked for a trade out of there....

It would have been nice if he could get more games and contribute more on the ice but he's not an everyday player and hasn't been for a while, and he cost 1.75M against the cap.

And they got a pick back, not sure how you can say this is a shit trade....

There's plenty of times where he tried or was willing, but the other player wasnt...it takes 2 to tango.

True, but why is that? I don't think it's that he wasn't willing to throw down if that's the implication. It's more about guys not wanting to fight him due to him being a bad tradeoff at this point in his career and him being a feared fighter. Again, takes 2 to tango...

And if he jumped players and got the 2 for instigating we'd only be bitchinga bout him more than praising him.

The only thing that sucks is that he seemed to be well liked and a funny guy. He was an god awful player for us. Skated worse than me, and I can't even skate. Dude would just throw some semi late hits to get his hit totals up, hits that rarely lead to anything at all, by the time he hit them the puck was already at the other end of the rink basically.

And he rarely fought. He didn't stand up for his teammates when they got hit badly/dirty.

Major disappointment.
