I'm not saying TT did anything malicious, but what could possibly cause his leg to go up that high?

Oh I don't know, maybe getting tripped with both feet taken out from under you with force?

Red Line, you never cease to amaze me in your anti-Hawks rhetoric.

I think it's a reflex of when someone is going head first to the "ground". you try to lift your head at the impact and the only way that was possible at Teravainen's position was by lifting his feet behind his back. The only other way, propably safer, is to crouch and take most of the impact with your back, but Teravainen already had his chin on top of the boards.

Players get tripped multiple times every single game. Yet I've never seen anyone's skate go so high before on such a straightforward trip.

I even said I don't think he was intending to harm anyone, or did you completely fail to read that part?:handclap:

I think it has to happen near the boards at a place where there isn't any glass and the tripped player needs to have momentum and go head first towards the boards for the reflexes to take over. And the player who trips must apply enough force to the feet so that enough of the momentum turns into angular momentum around the mass centre.

How often do you see them intentionally tripped by someones skate on the laces like that and have nothing to catch themselves on? Not every day do players trip each other like second graders like how Reaves did, so it's not a huge surprise I guess.

Why did TT throw his skate up so high?

I actually tripped almost the exact same way on the ice once. It happens when you're completely unprepared and your feet get taken out from right underneath you - your knees aren't braced properly and the momentum swings your foot up.

Pretty stupid move on the part of Reaves. As much as I hate that guy, I'm glad nothing serious resulted from being hit in the face with a skate. That could have been really bad.

It was a stupid play. Just glad it was nothing serious. The trip like that so close to the boards was almost more dangerous to TT than the skate.

I'm honestly surprised we don't see this more, skates up high and clipping people. Pretty scary stuff.
