This also shows why all the hysteria over the signing was over blown. As I and others said at the time, you just put him on waivers when he's spent, and incur basically nothing against the cap in the end. Big f***ing whoop.
We incurred 84 games of Ryan Reaves during which he scored 8 points. None of us deserved that.

The writing was on the wall. I was one of his few fans last year but something was just off this year.

He just refused to get physically involved in the games he played. I thought being under Berube would have him more unleashed but he was just Timid all year.

He seemed unmotivated all year

He seems like Max Domi in the sense that he didn’t seem willing or capable of doing the difficult work that makes them moderately effective. Like if he’s so good in the room, just stay in the room.

If he can’t be an effective goon, there’s no normal 4th line role available to you.

Yep. We wasted 1.35m to have Reaves drag down our team for two years, and now have 200k in dead cap. Apparently, mild criticism of that team-damaging action is "hysteria", but spending 6 years endlessly bashing our best players, the contracts they actually earn, and the person who signed them is totally normal. :eyeroll:

He will clear and go to minors .. we will need him in Panthers series when things get super physical and super rough and refs throw da whistle away .. Matty Mitch and Willy will go into da tank again .. it will be 3rd and 4th line physicality and our D/G which will decide da series

Are you still on about Dubas? LOL

I didn't even mention Dubas. Treliving is the one who signed Reaves, and the contract bashing for our best players has stretched across multiple GMs.
Can a team pay 4 forwards over $10 million each and still build a Stanley Cup winner? I have my doubts that this Core 5 will finally win a Stanley Cup. Call that bashing but I call it being realistic.

how many years of the cap going up violently is needed for the X players over Y cap hit for it to stop being repeated? A guy being at 9.5 or 8.8 and not reaching that bar isn’t relevant, probably you’d rather have a star in his prime at 12 than a 35 year old Seguin at 9.85 regardless of whether or not that means you have Kampf instead of an ELC or bargain bin UFA like Lorentz.

Dallas is gonna have 1 forward at 12 and 3 within 1.6 million of 10, those savings are going into paying their goalies 3x what ours make for the same results.
