YupThat's been the issue since they signed the core contracts. The Cap space has never been there, plain and simple and it won't until they move on from some of these.

We incurred 84 games of Ryan Reaves during which he scored 8 points. None of us deserved that. This also shows why all the hysteria over the signing was over blown. As I and others said at the time, you just put him on waivers when he's spent, and incur basically nothing against the cap in the end. Big f***ing whoop.
The writing was on the wall. I was one of his few fans last year but something was just off this year.
He just refused to get physically involved in the games he played. I thought being under Berube would have him more unleashed but he was just Timid all year.
He seemed unmotivated all year
Yep. We wasted 1.35m to have Reaves drag down our team for two years, and now have 200k in dead cap. Apparently, mild criticism of that team-damaging action is "hysteria", but spending 6 years endlessly bashing our best players, the contracts they actually earn, and the person who signed them is totally normal. We incurred 84 games of Ryan Reaves during which he scored 8 points. Are you still on about Dubas? LOLYep. We wasted 1.35m to have Reaves drag down our team for two years, and now have 200k in dead cap. Rarely wastes an opportunity to defend a guy he claims to no longer care about. Are you still on about Dubas? LOL

I didn't even mention Dubas. Treliving is the one who signed Reaves, and the contract bashing for our best players has stretched across multiple GMs.Rarely wastes an opportunity to defend a guy he claims to no longer care about.
9.5/10 unnecessary responseI didn't even mention Dubas. Treliving is the one who signed Reaves, and the contract bashing for our best players has stretched across multiple GMs.
Bad signing by Brad. No argument there.I didn't even mention Dubas. Treliving is the one who signed Reaves, and the contract bashing for our best players has stretched across multiple GMs.
Can a team pay 4 forwards over $10 million each and still build a Stanley Cup winner? I have my doubts that this Core 5 will finally win a Stanley Cup. Call that bashing but I call it being realistic.I didn't even mention Dubas. Treliving is the one who signed Reaves, and the contract bashing for our best players has stretched across multiple GMs.
Yes. Though this is also our only year with that. Can a team pay 4 forwards over $10 million each and still build a Stanley Cup winner?

PP better improve or playoff result will be the same as last year. I hope PP gets in a groove and dominates.Yes. Though this is also our only year with that.
I'm not sure he ever gets into an NHL game again. The Leafs can't afford to put him in a playoff game.Probably plays first couple games if we face Florida or Washington

From the looks of it, waking Wilson up might end up being the Habs undoing. He’s the only guy they have to put Wilson in his place
