Seravalli: Really decent chance Conor Garland is traded today

Whoever gets him will love him. A far greater impact on the ice than his point totals indicate.

If I were Allvin and Rutherford, I would not be trading him. :/ But lets see what the return is. The Canucks stink and have stunk for 8 years, players have to be moved - most of the team, IMO. Garland is rather far down that list to be moved, though.

One would think.

Carolina will be all over Garland. He fits their play style and window perfectly.

Ryan Suzuki (or any other prospect) + 2023 1st + Cap dump

I really hope Garland receives a first rounder back in return. Or Benning traded away the 9th overall "Guenther" for Ekman-freaking-Larsson. The Canucks really should be trading Boeser first before Garland.

I doubt we are a player for him. We have quite a few RHS forwards and a few LHS that prefer the right side. We have a greater need for a guy that shoots left to play on the left. Never say never, though.

f***ing pissed about this. If you trade Garland over Boeser you simply cannot evaluate talent. We’re in for another wasted decade with these morons is charge.

I don't really get why, though - Garland's a really good player, on a fairly priced contract he just signed, and is in his prime. Those are the types of player you keep, no?

Really weird that he would be the one moving and not Boeser...

Players like Garland can be polarizing. Maybe because of his size.

I seem to recall when there were first rumors last year that Arizona would trade him—that some GMs were very interested, and other GMs would want nothing to do with the player.

I suspect the simplest answer is that the new Canucks management are among the group that are hesitant about his game.

Conor Garland plays 1 min less per game of 5 on 5 ice time than Brock Boeser. And yet, Garland has 31 even strength points this season and Boeser has 19. Keep in mind Boeser has consistently played with better linemates than Garland this season.

We fired Benning and replaced him with another Benning.

man if Vancouver trades Garland and Miller they are going to be scary good in a few yrs. Even if 30% of their new assets pan out they will still be a deadly team.

Or you're getting a very useful player who's controllable for another 4 years—at a very reasonable caphit.

Ignoring the QO is like ignoring an oddly colored and shaped mole....
Not what I meant sorry if it was misunderstood, what I meant is even without the fact that he is a RFA (because high O) he still has value like a UFA would have for a cup run.

Or maybe absolutely nobody wants boeser, Garland gets you a better return.
And if they save 5 million in cap space, the Halak cap space is used this year which saves another 2 million next year.

They know exactly what they are doing.

That being said, Garland should probably stay regardless, did not get as much of an opportunity as he should

plus with the high prices, there may never be a better time to move Miller, Garland

So the Canucks trade a high first for Garland and sign him to a cap-friendly multi-year deal, and now he’s on the block in season 1 after playing well? I’m very confused?
I think its a case of a ballooned market and Vancouver knows that they may get more now then in the off season
