Speculation: Re-Sign Campbell?

Yeah in hindsight he should have been locked up in the off season and perhaps Dubas tried, not sure if that info is public?

I don't blame Dubas for the wait and see approach. I would have done the same.
I think it'll be done just like rielly was done tbh. Either way the man is getting paid and I think he wants to stay here, but I am not too concerned tbh. We'll see what happens.

Yes. At this point Campbell is worth more than Muzzin, Reilly, or pretty much anyone else in that price range.

lol GM dumbas.

lol Yeah, I'm sure you could have predicted a global pandemic.

Dubas was clearly banking on the cap jumping a couple years ago, and given the new TV deals have practically tripled, he was right. For all accounts and purposes, his gamble paid off. What ultimately thwarted him WAS AN ACT OF NATURE. Giving in to Nylander definitely screwed him over, but any and all criticism he has received since regarding finances has been a tad unfair.

When it's all said and done, it's on the players. This team definitely had enough talent and opportunities to go deep the last few years. Pretending some key bargain acquisition or cap squeaker would have changed everything is just ludicrous. The chances of ANY team happening upon "that one bargain player" is like a 1 in 16 chance, and it always feels like sheer luck when it does happen.

It is a MASSIVE concern, and the Leafs are absolutely SCREWED because dumbas screwed up the cap so bad they are clearly going to lose their MVP who is CARRYING the team and who they CANT WIN WITHOUT.

lol GM dumbas.
I'm so confused... my brain hurts...

3.5 the mrazek contract. I love jack as much as the rest but he has played a avg 25 or less games a season in his nhl career not 40 or 50 games .....

If he's getting 5+ who you paying to play the other half the season

Muzzin and Reilly are getting 5 million this season...

*sigh* I never get any good responses around here.
When you say worth more than Rielly people will assume the 7.5 million contract

Low on my concern-o-meter

Players don’t forget the teams that build them up. Campbell was approaching bust/career backup territory, stated he loves the city and so far the city loves him.

I’d guess 4x 4.8-5.2.

Coming to Toronto has really boosted Jack’s confidence and it shows with his play.

The man loves the embrace he feels from the fans… I think he rewards everyone on his Leafs retirement deal.

Not worried about it at all. Think a deal fair to both sides will be worked out.

5 x 5 is my guess if it’s done before offseason.

Not every player is all about the Benjamins.

It's not at all a concern right now, it will be at the end of the season. That said, it would seem smart to begin discussions now rather than later; I'm guessing his 'price tag' will likely go up.

No way you deal him.

He's a guy worth taking a gamble on, but they can't afford to completely open the vault & pay premium for him.

I don't think there's anything wrong talking about this on the side while this season is still at hand, it can still be enjoyed at the same time; it has its own thread.

I guess we should also blame Dubas for trading for Campbell.

Curtis joseph went to Detroit and he said he wished he stayes in Toronto. No doubt about it, Torpnto is second to none in terms of the love they give their goalies (that play well).

I didnt wqtch the entire game but the little bit of the 3rd and OT... he looked great as usual. He very much has a Brodeur hybrid style that is fun to watch. I like that he doesn'tgo into butterfly immediately.
