4 shy of 50 career OHL/CHL goals (97 career games)
(110 career points)

So, 2 games to hit 50 goals, before 100 games
and 3 to 50 in 100 games..

We are talking about a top prospect d-man who is still yet to be drafted...

And if you guessed that he has already scored most goals by defenseman in the OHL history
for a player that has yet to be drafted... you guessed correctly.

edit : my bad.. 2nd most after Doug Wilson, he scored all of his 80 goals before he was drafted
(1974-75 - 1976-77)

His potential is enormous. If he reaches Makar's level, I won't be surprised.
He has some "red flags", if NHL GM's though his potential was Makar and there wasn't alot of risk to his game he would be fighting the #1 spot this year.

But there is no denying just how dynamic an offensive force he is, some team might win the lottery drafting him if it all pans out at the NHL level.

Except that Makar was selected 4 in a draft where the No. 1 was not very strong. Hughes and Fox also had red flags.

If you're looking for an offensive right-side defender, this guy is very exciting.

I don't disagree but people know what Makar is now so it might get them too excited.

And we all know the stellar NHL career that Patrick MacNeill went on to.
Like I get it. He’s not beating someone like Bobby Orr or anything like that but it’s still a record. He also did it a year younger than Patrick and in 17 fewer games. He’s going to put the number out of reach for a VERY long time.

The point is, does his skills package translate well at the NHL level. After watching closely this season, I have my doubts.

I understand the "red flags" caution but when I read comparisons to Makar my question is how well does Parekh skate - is he even close to Makar's skating?

And that's a valid worry to have about his game. But you can make that point independent of who's record he's breaking. One can appreciate something he does without having to look at through the lens of "well is that translatable to the NHL" every time.

Noted. But there are at least 5 defencemen and at least 10 forwards I would take before Parekh in the upcoming draft. Regardless of his record. And isn't that what this is all about.

That's aggregation.

Its not like Makar is at Connor McDavid level
the difference is not that large, also, Zayne can improve his skating

No one is at McDavid level - he's on a level all by himself. However - I would put Makar on the next level down from McDavid - like MacKinnon level. He has the edge work and agility but also extremely fast. If Parekh doesn't have that kind of speed then comparisons with Makar are nonsense.

Yep. Seems like a pretty standard placement. He's anywhere from like 7-20 depending on what things people value more.

I think it would be a useful thought experiment to discuss Parekh without talking about his point Totals.
