I think that a decision will be made whether they're likely to keep him in NA during the prospects camp.

The way I see it, he should be in North America if he's on the big club. If not, send him back to Finland, especially if that's what he wants. NYI will be spreading around RD spots in Bridgeport to Ryan Pulock, Scott Mayfield, and Kevin Czuczman. I think playing a lot of competitive hockey as a KEY player is more important than the size of the ice surface.

The 225K is really not the issue, IMO.

I don't think depth should be an issue either. Pokka is arguably more important to our future than any other prospect expected to be in BP next year. Getting him minutes there and adjusted to the NA game should be priority, especially considering what he's already accomplished over in Finland.

Yes. Lubomir has one year left on his deal and this kid is his replacement. Also, if Lubo gets hurt he cannot be called up from Finland. This kid is probably AHL bound or maybe he beats out Donovan for the third pair spot. Lots of competition on Long Island for defenders this year.

That's another big part of this decision. I'd feel a lot better about replacing Visnovsky internally if we have three guys(Pokka, Pulock and Mayfield) with AHL experience. I'd have a hard time believing we couldn't get at least one NHLer out of that group in 2015-16.

Mayfield, Pulock and Reinhardt aren't primary puck movers like Pokka and CdH.

Not going to be in the NHL for at least 2 years, probably 25 points on a sheltered pair.

I can see him on the roster in 2015/16. I also wouldn't be surprised if he is the first call up when we have injury trouble on defense. I am also guessing he will be used as trade bait.

CdH is much better prospect but production was similar.

CDH is a much, much better player than Donovan. Donovan is a #7 defenseman, while CDH was the Isles best defenseman last year, and if he can stay healthy he will be a top pairing defenseman.

I expect Pokka to play in the AHL this year, or back in Finland for one final season. The kid seems like a real smart player, and I can see him being a great second pairing defenseman for the Isles.

Pokka is a Teppo Numminen lite. His best assets are crisp tape to tape passes and calmeness beyond his years. He has a nice shot also. What he lacks is speed and power. If he can improve on those, hel be a nhl-player. If not, he wont make it. Those who think he is ready now, are wrong. He wasnt ready for the speed of WHC this year, so he is not going to be ready for the nhl, unless he has a crazy summer......:)

And we know this how? If you watched him this year and compared to Kivistö for example many would say Pokka was the better dman. Maybe he would've struggled, maybe he would've been fine.

I do agree with you though, that he needs to improve athletically. He needs to find the pro-athlete in himself, he still seems to have some baby fat on him.

is he a pure offensive PP QB type?

No not at all. Defence first player. His powerplay is about giving easy passes to d-partner and shooters in the circles. Not fancy cross crease saucer passes to back post. He also likes to look for deflections with wrist shots or fake slapshots. His shot is pretty good but rarely shoots with full power.

Plays a lot like Nicklas Lidström. Not at his level offensively but very similar style defensively. Really good defending with his stick, great passing skills and puck moving out of the zone etc.

Pokka has been playing great for Hogs

Wouldn't be surprised if he gets a look at some point in year from Hawks if this keeps up. As of now he is probably one of the hawks best prospects and a guy who should be one of the favorites for open defender spots that will be created by 2015 cap issues

Its nice to hear he is doing well...Im not surprised.Isles fans were trying to tell everyone he was the real deal for a long time...I think this trade will work out for both teams in the end...
