Big right shot defenseman at 6’4 220. Good skater for a rugged defensive defenseman. Doesn’t have much offense, but he’s there for his defense. Most Rangers fans believe he’s at least a top 3 defenseman prospect for us, and best currently signed to an ELC. Could see some games this season, and the hope is he takes over 3rd pair on the right side from Trouba after this season. He was a first time eligible in 2020 and now 22, so he’s a little old for a 2022 pick. Still, a potential NHL’er in the fifth round is a steal. His father is a longtime hockey figure. Coached NCAA, OHL, and internationally, and scouted in the NHL.

He is thriving in Rangers training camp so far. Just as he was playing for Hartford in the playoffs. He is moving up the depth chart. Could be a call up option or maybe surpasses Jones and make the team out of camp.

1 goal and 1 assist last night vs the Bruins. He stood out big time last night.

I don't see any way he surpasses Jones. Jones played well last season, and is probably a good amount better than him. And Mancini is a right shot with essentially no pro hockey experience.

I don't see the team going out of their way to play four right shots. Most likely, he'll get some games if any of the RHD are missing, and if all goes well he replaces Trouba on the third pair a year from now.

The way he skates and has been in the preseason and rookie games, i rather take a chance and go with him over Harpur or Mackey.

Not much offensive in college but produces in pro hockey. Go figure. He has been standing out and looks like a player who been in the league for a few seasons now.

Let's wait and see if he can produce offense in pro hockey.

Only played 7 games for Hartford last year, and had 3 points. Solid production, but nothing that is too eye popping.

But yes, I think there's a chance he could score more in the pros than college and junior. He's showed some better offensive capabilities the last few weeks, but there's also a danger in putting too much into preseason and disregarding years of statistics.

I agree but he has looked good considering he was a mid round pick and was playing college earlier this year. He did come straight from college and I am sure I heard he was Hartford’s best dman in the playoffs. Not bad for a player about a month earlier was in college. He has not looked out of place in these preseason games. I would like to see him play one of the few last games of preseason to see if he can play just as good vs more of the NHL players. Personally id only like to see him on this team filling in for Lindgren unless another top 6 spot is open for good, otherwise send him down. No way he should be the 7th dman. He has to play. I wont be shocked if plays some games this season due to injuries, based on how he has been during this preseason. I wish they had a spot for both Jones and Mancini. Rangers can use another big dman

Made the team, technically.

Unless he does something where you absolutely can’t take him out of the lineup or there’s an injury/suspension to someone else right away, it’ll probably be for only like one or two games. Lindgren has already returned to practice, and logically speaking there’s no spot for Mancini once Lindgren returns because Mancini isn’t going to be the 7th D.

Good experience for him though and he earned it with a very good training camp.

Mancini is going to score in his debut. Calling it now. Too good of a story not to happen.

I think the Rangers deserve a little bit of good luck. This kid has done nothing but impress since camp started and has earned every second of ice time he will get. Would be awesome if he turned out to be a player.

Still here after two games. Going to get a third game. Roster math says he’s going down after the third game because Lindgren is probably going to be ready for Saturday, but the Rangers found a player here. He’ll be a full time NHL’er next season almost certainly.

There was every reason to be skeptical about a guy who produced no offense in college being any more than a 6 or 7, but he’s proving me wrong. It’s been a long time since the Rangers pulled a potentially good NHL’er out of thin air like this.

He looks like at least a third pair defensemen and probably more than that. You’d have no idea he’s in his first few NHL games or that he went two times through the draft undrafted or that he was a fifth round pick. He’s starting to look like a guy who should’ve been a first round pick.
