Yeah somehow he was one of the teams best D-man last year but is now garbage?…If the team can't develop him properly then they need to trade him to a team that will. This is ridiculous.

Played 1st game since the break, it didn’t go well, and now getting healthy scratched. Apparently no room for a top young prospect to have a bad game and learn from it?What part of the Devils is toxic?
Does Luke Hughes get benched after his bad games? The "toxicity" has seemingly not affected Luke Hughes or Seamus Casey. Weird.
Would probably have more leeway if they didn't have someone like Casey breathing down his neck. That's mostly just a bit of bad luck for Nemec in that regard. The devils don't have to suffer through his downs and the team is trying to win.Played 1st game since the break, it didn’t go well, and now getting healthy scratched. You'll notice, the Devils are actually trying to win hockey games. They aren't the Flyers or Montreal. They're going to play the players that give them the best opportunity to do that. Nemec has played 12 games at the NHL level this season and frankly has been pretty bad in most of them. Nemec got sent down, complained about it, and proceeded to shit the bed badly when he got called back up. Casey was always going to get his shot after that, and in this one game has shown more than Nemec has all year. It's that simple. Will that always be the pecking order? Who knows, Nemec has the draft pedigree, but at this point that's all in the rear view mirror.Played 1st game since the break, it didn’t go well, and now getting healthy scratched. We don't really need RD. Ideally a 3C who can slot in as a 2C or a scoring winger....Reinbacher's struggles were with an injury...the Habs will at least wait and see if he's back to NHL shape...
He's going to be a good player despite some Montreal fans thinking that disparaging him on here will somehow make him available for a trade.
Nemec for Reinbacher? Two struggling high picks?
I think Nemec is having to make a major adjustment to his game and it's a bit of a difficult process for him. He showed up hurt to camp and based on the AHL results it look like it took until some point in December for him to overcome that. He started to play better in the AHL and earned a recall to NJ. But NJ has a very strict defensive system and that runs counter to what we saw work for Nemec last season when he was able to freelance and play with some independence. This season it's a team game with distinct defensive plans and an expectation of discipline with the defense first. For probably the first time in his young career Nemec is being forced to adhere to a full sixty minute detailed plan where he cannot just get by on smarts and instincts. He probably needs some extra coaching and video work to get him into the flow of things and even then he will need reminders to avoid the freelancing until he gets comfortable with the spots he can pick in this system. Some of this is on the team and some is on him.I like Nemec still but, Casey comes back into the lineup today after tearing up the AHL until an injury kept him out of action for a month or so. Casey scored a beauty of a goal and has 4 goals in 9 NHL games. Casey has some great offensive skill and great skating ability. Nemec has good competition kicking him out of the NHL lineup...
Defensive systems are generally easier for players to adjust to then a free-flow type of system.I think Nemec is having to make a major adjustment to his game and it's a bit of a difficult process for him. Generally I agree with you but in this case it seems to go against what Nemec has done since his arrival in NJ and what he wants to do as a player.Defensive systems are generally easier for players to adjust to then a free-flow type of system.
