RD Ryan Chesley - USNTDP, USHL (2022, 37th, WSH)

Team does not have 10 better PP players than a defensemen with 5 goals and 8 overall points in 9 games.
Lol he's a defenseman and you're always going to have at least one forward back on one of the units. So he needs to be a top 3 D on the PP and clearly the coaches aren't seeing that in practice.

1. Rinzel
2. Mittelstadt
3. Koster

Realistically, taking Koster's spot shouldn't be hard.

Any educated guess as to whether he'll be ready to leave college (sign his ELC) after the Minnesota season ends?

I assume HOW their season ends might influence that decision. For example if they lose in the final he might want to come back for another try. But I have no idea (don't really follow the team) if they can be reasonably expected to be this good again next year with any expected graduations, transfers, or pro signings.

3 point night. 6+9=15 points in 22 games. Barely any PP time either. Carrying a +17, by the way. Second best +/- in the country.

Since he's from hometown, been following him for a while now. He has been really good this year. He is the rock when he's on the ice- He can definitely bring it up offensively and join the rush etc but he's playing a more pro-like style when he's out there which I appreciate. Very good skater, wicked shot, skilled.

40 pts 2way Dman for both special team units is his ceiling which is good. Personally I don't think he is going to reach that but definitely should get the spot over the likes of TvR when that contract is signed.

I don't know much about next year's class coming in, but I think we're slated to loose some pretty key pieces: Snuggerud, Wood, Rinzel, maybe Moore. Koster and Huglen to graduation. Hopefully Snuggerud screws the Blues and stays another year though.

Chesley would be the no doubt #1 defenseman if he stays (assuming Rinzel leaves), though I doubt somebody like him makes it to his senior season.

I'm still assuming he signs. But given differences between respective teams in things like contention status and cap ceiling, I suspect it's easier for a team like Chicago to negotiate aspects such as performance bonuses and ELC burn. So it might take a bit longer to hammer out the details. Still plenty of time left to get him into games if needed.
