RD Oliver Bonk - London Knights, OHL (2023, 22nd, PHI)

Bonk would be a fine mid-late first rounder. Obviously depends on how dmen are drafted on the floor and how he progresses throughout the year but wouldn't shock me if he's somewhere from 15-30

Impressive production for a first year OHL defenseman. I thought he was a pretty weak skater in the summer and I still see a lot of awkward off-balance moments and just generally sluggish footspeed. Not particularly athletic. If you give him a runway he can eat up ice with his long strides, but there's less space as you move up the ladder. Really skilled for a big guy though. Can't say I've seen a defenseman take as many one-knee slappers or snapshots from the blueline as he does. He's probably going to go higher than I'd feel comfortable pulling the trigger but I can see the intrigue.

I saw Pronman say his comp is John Marino... I think that actually works pretty well for him.

An interesting option for Buffalo, but it is not clear in what range with our picks.

12 points in 14 games (all assists). Seems he hasn’t scored in a while dating back to last year. Obviously he’s a dman who it seems will actually be more defensive than offensive in the future but still odd for a first rounder to not score a goal for this long.

How has he look for those who have watched him?

Thanks!

Huge offensive boost in his D+1 year

This is technically only his second OHL year too after only playing 10 games with London in 2021-22, spending the rest of the year playing junior A hockey
