@newfy Notice how he didn't make a single mention of first or second pairing when confronted.![]()
good news for Detroit!
Every time someone doesn't get as high on a Red Wing player or prospect as you, you respond with snide sarcasm.
It doesn't help whatever it is you're trying to say.
Man special really is thrown around quite loosely around here. Hughes, McDavid, Dahlin, Matthews are special prospects. Seider, who likely becomes a 3/4 defenseman, is much closer to the type of prospect we see several times every draft class than special.
I like how you tried to endear yourself to others by saying that I wildly go against multiple people. Lately, the only person has been you. And I'm DEFINITELY not the only one to do that.
You regularly take ****s on 90% of Red Wings related discussion, and it's gotten old. To the point that the vast majority of regulars in the Detroit board are fed up with it. But keep trying to take the focus off you.
I don't focus on me. Or you.
I focus on the point people are talking about.
What an odd claim to make as you dodge every single point made in my post.
Point proven. I think we're done here.
IF he is gonna play for Grand Rapids, on what line is he gonna play? GR's D core is stacked. Hicketts, Lindstrom, Saarijarvi, McIlrath, McCrea, Lashoff, D' Astous, Crawford.
Might even include Hronek and/or Cholowski. He needs top line minutes.
I see him turning into a Marc Staal type player when Staal was in his prime (top pair defensive dman with a little offense to go along).
There is 0 chance Hronek plays in Grand Rapids. Guys like D'Astous or Mcrea could be Walleye very easily. I could see Hicketts or even McILrath being the number 7 or 8 D in Detroit. Plus Yzerman could swap an AHL D for an AHL forward pretty easily. Theyre not going to be worried about almost any of those players if Seider is in Grand Rapids he'll play and at the end of the day it'll be fairly easy for Yzerman to make that happen.
I saw Hicketts as a potential 7, but probably not, because he's a RH shot.
McIlrath could make some sense, but my gut says they want that veteran presence and toughness in the GR lineup. I'd personally like to see McIlrath in Detroit for an extended visit.
Here;s our organization depth chart for our RHD, based on readiness.
1. Green.
2. Hronek.
------------
3. Bowey
4. McIlrath
----------
5. Saarijarvi
6. Seider
7. Kaski
8. Lindstrom
Really, you can organize 3 through 8 however you want. But those 6-8 guys have to be playing meaningful minutes.
Even if you go Hronek-Green-Bowey-McIlrath in the NHL, you;ve got 4 RHD in Grand Rapids.
Somebody could move over to left - but I'm not sure that's a good idea for a young defenseman - 3 of whom who've never played in the AHL before.
Or you could trade 1.
Saarijarvi, as much as I really liked the way he played in exhibition games last year, did take a step forward last year. But he still only produced 16 points in GR. Not exactly promising for a 5'10 offensive defenseman.
So maybe you try to find a home for him in another organization.
Holland loves his old draft picks. Saarijarvi and Svechnikov to EDM for Puljujarvi might make some sense.

Surely you jest? Marc Staal will be Seider's absolute floor, if he is under-utilized.
Best case for Seider is Victor Hedman (yes, Hedman).
Worst case for Seider is Hampus Lindolm.
Likely case for Seider is Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
Anyone who has watched this game close enough for years can see this kid oozes upside at both ends of the ice. And his child-like enthusiasm for the game is quite honestly reminiscent of a young Jaromir Jagr.
Seider will be a complete steal for Yzerman. In two years, he will be considered "the steal" of the draft.
God, I hope you're right.Surely you jest? Marc Staal will be Seider's absolute floor, if he is under-utilized.

I mean I dont like the guy or agree with him often but he is right in this case. Sieder is not a super unique once every 3/4 drafts kinda defenseman. Theres guys like him every year, not a bad thing per say, but its just simple facts.Yes, we know. You don't like Detroit or their prospects. Moving right along...
I'm getting off the Seider hype train to hop on that Seider hype rocket haha. I hope Box is right though because while I like Seider, I definitely don't feel that wayI’m on the Seider hype train but this post is too much. You just launched a Seider rocket to the moon and I don’t know if I can join this adventure with you.

I AM a wings fan and I AM very excited about him.All good.
I'm not even close to a Wings fan, just calling it like I see it. I loved Seider as a prospect and wasn't surprised in the least a savvy GM like Yzerman snagged him early. He was rising fast leading up to draft day the same way Erik Karlsson, Travis Sanheim, and Cale Makar were their respective draft years.
I remember some people were hesitant on Makar because "he played in a lower tier program" but the wise hockey men insisted his raw skill was on a different level, regardless of competition. Sometimes you can just "see it" in a player and I clearly see it with Seider. Obviously Yzerman and the Wings do too... and Stevie is one of the best hockey men on the planet, if we're being honest.
Wings fans, get excited. Mo Seider is an absolute gem.
Wow, talk about overrating.Surely you jest? Marc Staal will be Seider's absolute floor, if he is under-utilized.
