RD Landon Dupont - Everett Silvertips, WHL (2027 Draft)

Yeah, he’s that good. You’ll see it after a period.

Even if all he amounts to is a better version of Makar, isn’t that a generational player? DuPont is 5’11 179 right now. Crosby is only 5’11, so it’s not like DuPont never advancing past 5’11 would be a disqualifier.

As for comparisons to Wright, I’d argue that Wright didn’t continue his trajectory due to the missed season or maybe something mental and it wasn’t that he was physically mature. Is DuPont relatively physically mature, sure, but that’s not it. You don’t put up historical numbers at that age because you’re relatively physically mature (maybe if you’re like LeBron James physically mature you can, but otherwise no).
Wright was definitely mature beyond his years, not like Ekblad level but he was probably like a 17 or 18 year old at age 15. His shot was already pro level which was his biggest asset and while he still has a great shot, he isn't going to be the best shooter in the nhl.

I agree though that missing an entire year of hockey did seem to impact him. DuPont is both flat out better and more projectable than Wright was at his age.

But it does go to show that anything can happen. Maybe DuPont turns out to be a good nhler , maybe he is the next makar. He's certainly showing everything and more to be considered a prodigy , but it's not always linear

He’s the next generational player.

Maybe one of these players people discuss as one accomplishes it by putting up one of the best NHL careers ever when all is said and done, but there’s enough doubt with all of them pre-draft.

There is no doubt with DuPont. Watch him play. As clear as it was for McDavid. Maybe even more so.
Completely agree. Unheard of what he's doing. Sublime prospect. Best since McDavid if not better
