May be going the NCAA route. Guessing Hockey Canada isn't sold on him being exceptional.

I mean as much as I love his offensive game his defensive play is atrocious. Nice to see Hockey Canada not getting pressured by the social media hype machine.

Could he play next year in the BCHL?

Because if he doesn't get ES, he can't play next year in the WHL, unless a team does what was done for Savoie.

BCHL would be better than playing minor hockey. And then the year after he could play junior in the USHL, which is pretty similar in level to the CHL leagues.
BCHL would be a great starting league for him to show what he is really made of. The league he currently plays in has no depth. Micki might not like that route though because it might not seem prestigious enough.

The Chicago Steel has become the top destination for non-NTDP and Canadians. They really are better than most CHL teams with the amount of training, facilities and coaching.

The only way for Canada to compete is to either create their own NTDP or have a central facility for pre-CHL prodigies funded by HC. But HC is a bit busy spending it's dollars on lawyers. :sarcasm:
Doesn't feel the same since Hardy left but still a good location for any top prospect.

getting more interesting lately with Seattle, Edmonton, Kamloops winning more and Tri-City+Regina falling off. So now 5 team race for Dupont between Edmonton, Tri-City, Everett(via Kamloops), Prince Albert(via Seattle) and Kelowna(via Regina)

What is wrong with PA that prospects wouldn’t want to play there?
Not a big center even for the WHL and it's not the greatest place to live because of crime. Also for BC kids other than Brandon is the furthest away from home. PA has amazing fan support though, develop players really well and keep the players sheltered away from the ugly so kids shouldn't be worried about going there but I get it(same reason Prince George has some issues with players wanting to go there)

6-point [1G (SH), 5A] game today vs Eli McKamey and Shawnigan Lake.

To put it into perspective. Bedard had only one 6-point game during his entire season in Midget Prep with West Van, and it was against the now defunct Banff Hockey Academy which was not very good.

For any defenceman to do this is already uncanny at any level, nevermind the fact that he's 14 playing U18 Prep

this guy's shot is out of this world good, definitely one of the best I have seen at that age.

Its different from Bedard in that he loves the slapper and one-timer a lot more than Bedard, but its almost equally as effective which says a lot considering Bedard could be one of the greatest pure shooters of all time someday

Another all world defenseman coming out of Calgary.
Projecting to be like if Makar was actually good :sarcasm:

Curious to see what his route ends up being, I think the NCAA would be a good bet. CHL really seems to be letting a lot of Canadian kids slip through their fingers but if he's looking to play right away after being drafted maybe more games in major junior is the better choice.

Western Canadian to NCAA would almost guarantee he would be going to North Dakota or Denver. Michigan would be a solid darkhorse here, and one could see BU & BC jumping into the race too.

Add another four this afternoon

Fun fact, he's 4 points away from the all-time CSSHL U18 Prep single postseason scoring record set by Dylan Guenther... he's a whole year younger and he's a f***ing defenceman...

And to all those going "poor defensive game"... first of all, no, second of all, when he's out there the other team never even has the puck, so who cares.
