Well, based on stats, looks like he is finally taking bigger steps of improvment in his game. Just 4 more points to tie his last season point total.

Could somone who follows Frolunda or SHL more closely say how is he currently progressing? Please

Looks good. More active offensively. I think with Norlinder gone he's kinda gotten an increased role and done well with it.

Frankly, if he is a sound defender with good feet and decent strength, then he might have a job in MN in a year or two. Most of the RHD and RHD prospects are smaller and offensively inclined.

A bit weird, has grown into a solid SHL D-man and is still young, but I guess MIN wants that 2nd round pick to get another chance to pick someone really good rather than hoping this might become a depth D-man.

Makes sense, just hasn't displayed much in the way of NHL caliber skill. He flashed a bit in the playoffs with 5 goals in 9 games but overall he's just looked like a guy who might be a solid SHLer but isn't pushing for anything more than that.

MN could use a RHD depth guy with good feet who can play sound defense, IMO. Not sure if FJo is that guy. MN did sign SJo, but by all accounts he is more of an offensive guy.

Maybe, but the 2nd rounder is a nice consolation, and there really isn't anybody picked after him that I'd currently be ticked about passing up. Mildly annoyed at worst.
i was just looking into this. none of the remaining players picked at the end of the 1st really stick out as a huge miss.

Minny getting a 2nd rd pick because they suck at drafting is something else.

I understand why a team could be awarded kne, but it should only be awarded if the player is the one who won't sign, not the team. Live with your failures.

More teams should probably wait it out for a couple of seasons and decide to take the 2nd and a (very small) chance to get a quality NHLer instead of signing your late 1st rounder who after two seasons look very unlikely to be an impact NHLer.

I honestly wouldn’t mind my Oilers taking a shot on him. He plays a dead simple game and if there is anything our D could use more of, it’s simplicity.

I’m not expecting miracles here, but a reliable #5 who can be paired with a puck mover would be enough. Absolute best case would be a 15-20 point guy who can play in the top four and offset a more adventurous partner like Darnell Nurse.

Huge miss? Maybe not. But lots of solid young talent. And it's likely to look worse as time goes on, not better.
obviously Veleno would of been the smarter choice given our franchise lack of C prospects in general but as of this moment it doesnt hurt thinking back on it. one day maybe but as of now its a meh.

There is language in the CBA about a "bona fide offer" being required to be made by the team in order to get the compensatory pick:

(b) In the event a Club loses its draft rights to an Unsigned Draft Choice drafted in the first round of the Entry Draft (except as a result of failing to tender a required Bona Fide Offer (as defined below)), who (i) is again eligible for the Entry Draft, (ii) becomes an Unrestricted Free Agent, or (iii) dies, a Compensatory Draft Selection shall automatically be granted to that Club, which Compensatory Draft Selection shall be the same numerical choice in the second round in the Entry Draft immediately following the date the Club loses such rights. By way of example, if a Club cannot sign the third pick in the first round, it will receive the third pick in the second round as compensation.

(e) A “Bona Fide Offer” is an offer of an SPC which is for a period corresponding to the Player’s age as required under Section 9.1(b) of this Agreement, is to commence at the start of the next League Year, offers at least the Minimum Paragraph 1 Salary as set forth in Section 11.12 of this Agreement for each League Year covered by such offer and remains open to the Player for at least thirty (30) days after receipt of the offer by the Player. A Bona Fide Offer may be conditioned upon acceptance by the Player within thirty (30) days and carries no right to salary arbitration.

We must've made one somewhere along the line.

The fact that there is compensation for being terrible at drafting is mindblowing.

The post literally right above yours shows that the pick is awarded when a bonafide offer is made to a 1st rounder and they refuse to sign. Hence, its not a reward for bad drafting, its a reward for a 1st rounder refusing to sign.

Is there any evidence that he did not wanted to sign?
