Nice double return for the Wild. I was obviously enjoying Jiricek in NHL but no controversy in sending him down. He's on a very deep D core. Hope he gets a lot of minutes in Iowa. From my bias perspective... I think he did outstanding in his NHL time. Using social media.. the comments before his callup (can't skate, dickhead, doesn't workout) and after his callup ('nooo', keep him up, this sucks, he really showed that potential) are wildy different.lol Yes I know social media is not everything! But this is an online board.lol

Iowa is a shit show - they may have even ruined arguably the top goalie prospect Jesper Wallstedt (until the beginning of this year, it was him and Askarov). No structure, coach sucks, etc.
Glad he went there lol. Seems our star procpects D begins to fall apart. D.Jiricek sucks, A.Jiricek is constantly injured, Svozil, Spacek nowhere near NHL and clock is ticking.

I don't think Spacek is that far away. Might even see some games next season when injuries are almost certain among our elderly right handed D. Jiricek is surely to be the first call up but I could see them giving him a little action at some point next season.

Yeah, Spacek is one of the few guys doing alright this year in Iowa. I am not sure if you can blame jiricek, or any of the AHL Wild prospects, for their down year. I think that the 1st time HC is a dud. The team is underperforming massively.

We will see, I am losing hope a bit a starting to fear that no one from that strong silver WJC D will actually play NHL regularly. Jiricek went from 100 to 0 this season, Svozil and Spadek with close to none or 0 games in NHL yet, Tichacek still in Kladno and next year moving only to Finland.

That would be nothing wrong at first glance but the problem is that those guys are 22 already, even Jiricek is 21 already. Time is running out, feels like they have 1-2 years max to make it and then you are very well done in NHL pursuit and almost time for you to go back to Europe.

I don't know I kinda expected that at this age Jiricek would be a full scale NHLer, Svozil with Spacek would be getting serious looks in NHL and Tichacek would be at least under contract.

It's still time but I doesn't look good I fear

Larry Robinson played the better part of two seasons in the AHL. He was rather pedestrian in those early years because he was maturing into his frame. Lots of D spend time in the A.

MIN has a lot of veteran RHD right now in Spurgeon, Faber, and Bogosian(signed at a very reasonable rate, and playing well for a 3rd pairing guy). Wild would rather he gets lots of time down in Iowa rather than 12 minutes/night in the NHL. His time will come. If he and Buium have good camps, then they will be on the team in 25-26. Kind of sucks for Spacek, but I just can't see him beating out either one, nvm Spurgeon or Faber.

Maybe he learns how to play defense by the time Bogosian or Spurgeon are gone. Sucks for Špaček though...

I'm honestly astonished that it's gone this badly (so far) for this Czech D group - I really thought after the WJC that this D group would have 3 or 4 guys make it.

FWIW Svozil still has a good chance of becoming an NHLer, especially if he can take a step in getting stronger. He's got the smarts and the tools. He'll eventually need a trade though, he's as blocked as a player can be.

If I'm Minnesota what I really want to do is sit down with Jiricek and tell him that he's not making the team until he fills out. Give Spacek a chance next year instead. Tell Jiricek to put at least fifteen lbs of muscle on those legs and we'll see where you're at in 2026. Tell him that developing his body and athleticism is the focus for all of 2025-26.

The challenge with him is partly getting him out of the hero mindset where he's always dialed in to the next game. At this stage of his career he needs to be building for the long term and he's just not wired to think that way. There were some hints in Columbus that he wasn't willing to work with his coaches the right way - not in a rude way just very myopic.

Spurgeon is only signed for two more years, Bogo one. There will be room for both Jiricek and Spacek if their play warrants it. Jiricek certainly flashed NHL tools in his few games up with the Wild. Spacek is a :dunno:. He could be a tweener. He was certainly smaller and less strong than Daemon Hunt.

One things for sure, MN will have plenty of PMD, with Buium and Jiricek added in the next year or so. What they really need is another Middleton type. Good size, tough, knows where the D zone is.
