Steal? He could have went in the 4th round and nobody would have bat an eye.
Well yeah, that's the hope for every draft pick.If he develops in 3 years into a cheap top 4 d-man for 6 to 8 years before getting a larger contract, the 31st pick as the investment is a pretty good value.
He is a very sturdy defenseman and always finds himself in the right spot. Chris Tanev is a pretty solid comparable. What can be said of this kid? Guess not much at all.
Don’t like this pick for the Leafs. Can skate, can pass a bit, but not much for offence. Responsible and competes hard though. But I doubt this guy turns into anything special. What is his top end? TJ Brodie?
And if Stolberg develops into a better version, will it still be goodIf he develops in 3 years into a cheap top 4 d-man for 6 to 8 years before getting a larger contract, the 31st pick as the investment is a pretty good value.
I liked Button's recap I just heard: "he's a defenceman"He is a very sturdy defenseman and always finds himself in the right spot. Chris Tanev is a pretty solid comparable.
I mean....yes?And if Stolberg develops into a better version, will it still be good
This says more about you than it does about Danford lolWhat can be said of this kid? Guess not much at all.

I had Danford ranked somewhere from 35-60 and the sharks needed defensemen with our later picks.Steal of the draft
A defenseman's defenseman.I liked Button's recap I just heard: "he's a defenceman"

As others have said, drafting a Brodie quality dman and having him for his prime is pretty solid for a late 1st.What can be said of this kid? Guess not much at all.

Prime TJ Brodie was a top pair d man and at worst a #3 on a contender. What does Brodie, Muzzin, Tanev and Vlasic all have in common? All have similar draft profiles to Danford. Guys who are defense first, with limited offense but can transition the puck. What else do they all have in common? They all played top pairing minutes for their teams. What can be said of this kid? But I think it’s accurate. Not to say the pick won’t work out, but look at Kiviharju. Actually drafted in round 4. People said he could go late round 1.Some of y'all will really bite on anything
Brodie didn’t have limited offense on the Flames. 30 points six seasons in a row, including two 40 point seasons and a career high of 46 points in 70 games (54 point pace). This was in an era where scoring was also lower.Prime TJ Brodie was a top pair d man and at worst a #3 on a contender. What does Brodie, Muzzin, Tanev and Vlasic all have in common? If Danford becomes anything like that, I take that every day of the week.
Brodie also only had 30 points in his draft season in the OHL and topped out at 50 in a season. Danford had 33 this season...have to see how the rest of his career plays out.But I think it’s accurate. Not to say the pick won’t work out, but look at Kiviharju. Actually drafted in round 4. After a certain point you can kind of draft anyone, and the reactions will be varying responses of we’ll find out in five years if it was a good pick or not.

Correct. Muzzin also had several 40+pt seasons. But I think it’s accurate. Not to say the pick won’t work out, but look at Kiviharju. Actually drafted in round 4. People said he could go late round 1.
