Tied for 1st in SHL scoring for d-men.

He still isn't amazing defensively, but he is definitely improving in that area too, playing more physical and with better gap control.

He would probably play in the NHL and AHL for some franchises but Detroits are or will be stacked at D with young promising prospects.
Would be funny if he can take a top4 spot next year already. And I hope they will play him in the first PP with Raymond and others. That's his strength. No matter how good Seider and others are, I really hope they use him right. Because if he keeps this going and further develops through the year I don't believe one year in AHL next year will be a must or needed.

Couldn't agree more. He looks so filthy this year. Obviously he's still a ways off but I think he has a shot to make a lot of teams regret passing on him.

Yep. I'm a Philly fan and besides Michkov perhaps, I would trade anything for ASP. He has the potential to drive a PP with one or two good forwards.
Personally? I would trade Farabee, Tippett and Drysdale against ASP without blinking. Or in all honesty, I would trade everyone with Michkov being the exception. Flyers depth and talent level is so low. They should tank lol.

Lol. Though I would actually love Niemelä in the Flyers. He's easily more talented than most of our prospects and current D's imo. Not ASP level and especially not as a quarterback but still a good prospect with a sneaky shot and decent offense.
I mean have the Maple Leafs been good at developing any of their D prospects lately? No, not in my opinion.
Also Willy is their most consistent one in offense. Marner is overrated when it matters and Matthews is of course better but hasn't progressed much since he came to the league.
But yeah, even if ASP is on another level? I would pick Niemelä before Andrae everyday.

Sarcasm probably. Pellikka is also a more common surname in Finland than Sweden. Don't know if it has anything to do with it perhaps.
I nicknamed him "hyphen" when I saw him for a knockout round game at the WJC in Moncton against Finland. Outside of my Michkov prayer that was answered at the draft. He was my very close second choice. Cried when he went to Detroit but he will flourish and torment me for many years much to my delight. I should like to see him in person with the Red wings jersey working on trying to shut down Michkov. Oh joy. I am so jealous of the sheer talent Detroit now has.

He’s gonna have every opportunity to play in the NHL next year. God knows they need help on their PP. We’ll see how things go late this season too, but don’t be surprised if both he and Wallinder end up in the NHL next season.
If Seider and Edvinsson keep doing what they’re doing, his transition won’t be as difficult and pressure filled. Good bet he ends up playing with SE, and having someone like that to protect him, they’ll live with some of his rookie mistakes defensively, just to have him contributing offensively. That D-Core is going to be so big and talented, and with the way ASP “thinks the game”, he should be able to produce pretty quickly, not having to worry about creating space at his size, at all. He’ll have plenty of space.
It’s been a longer wait then maybe some fans wanted, but these young Dmen are all starting to come into their own, either already in the league, or knocking at the door. Wallinder looks really good as he starts his 2nd season in the AHL, and anyone who watched Edvinsson the last 10 minutes last night, help hold that shutout against the Islanders, saw how good he’s going to be. The Islanders broadcast team even mentioned how impressive he was playing such important defensive minutes as a rookie.
It’s tough having so many young, quality Dmen, all within a 2 year development time frame. Still think they’ll end up trading another one of them, as Tuomisto isn’t far away either, and Anton Johansson will be coming over next year as well. So it wasn’t a huge deal to move Gibson to Nashville before the draft. Especially now with how Kiiskinen, who they got in that trade, is coming into his own in Finland just turning 19 years old recently. We should see his coming out party at World Juniors this year.
So it’s coming together for Detroit’s blue line and they’re right on schedule to be a top D-Core for a good decade. They built it the right way. That’s for sure.
Had 2 assists and the GWG all in the 3rd period today.
Now at 5 G, 8 A, 13 points in 13 games and playing 20 plus a night.
I think he might be ready for the Wings next year.

He is and has since last year been one of the best prospects not yet in the NHL, on of the best young players in the world. All he does is produce.

He is going supernova this season. Point per game and it doesn’t even feel like they’re utilizing him the right way on the PP.

It is the SHL U19 defenseman points record in the regular season. Nils Lundkvist holds it
Seider is 2nd all time with 28 points
Talked to my colleague, who has watched SHL for over 2 decades, about juniors in general in the SHL. He said that most young players who go to the WJC usually have a slump afterwards in the SHL. Although this would be his second and not first.
~13 games to go to the WJC, and ~22 games after barring without injury.
It will be interesting to follow if he can keep this production all season long.
If he does, say goodbye to the U20 record Nils Lundkvist.

He does more than that. He is not bad in his own zone and he has some grit too. He should make his debut with the mens NT this season.
