Logistical nightmare having an Eastern team play on the west coast, especially with the schedule already setHow about the Oakland Alameda County Coliseum?
They'll sell tickets for the novelty of the situation ar first, the capacity is only 11,000. Only a joke franchise like the Rays could do this to being with. Wait until people find out about the rush hour traffic near Tampa from the surrounding areas.
The inability to drive across a bridge to St Pete was always a lame ass excuse for attendance.
Also with the Florida heat/humidity and rain, we'll see how it goes.
I think Olympic Stadium is actually going thru a renovation and is not even available this season anyway, logistical issues or otherwise it just couldn't happenI mean, there weren't many viable options. They were never going to play a season in Montreal or Portland or wherever due to the logistical hurdles. Steinbrenner Field has MLB amenities which is why they chose it, vs a college ballpark.
Especially when the Rays don’t own the Trop, nor could it be ready by Opening Day, by all accounts.Probably the most realistic nd logical move they could have made.
Even if i were a billionaire owner i'd have a hard time trying to justify the 50+ million price tag to pay for a roof at the Trop when i'm only going to be there a couple more seasons.

Olympic Stadium in Montreal Not an Option For Tampa Bay Rays After All
The Rays' Tropicana Field isn't the only venue that needs a new roof, as Montreal's Olympic Stadium will be undergoing major renovations of its own.www.si.com
Great, now we have two teams playing home games in minor league parks. Great job, MLB. Although, the Rays part isn’t their fault. Seriously, though. This is a bad look for baseball.
