So everyone has to be Roman Reigns?

Ha I hope not but it's one way to get heel heat I suppose. What about a wrestler who openly mocks the IWC? That's a start.

HHH used to do it a tiny bit I think as an authority guy.

Also there needs to be a hipster heel! He can win matches and casually sip a PBR afterwards in the ring as a take on Austin.

big show said almost the same thing about heels in an Austin podcast:

"The business has changed, absolutely, because here's the thing. We structured our business so that the referee has integrity now, which I have a huge problem with. But I don't give a s--t about the referee. I really don't. I like when heels get heat." Big Show elaborated, "I mean, we have a lot of kids now and they don't understand heat. They don't understand it. I mean, there's the guy you're supposed to boo. They get it, but most of our guys are supposed to be babyfaces. Bray Wyatt [has] got the coolest entrance of anybody next to maybe Undertaker, but it's hard for him to be a heel because he cuts fantastic promos. He [has] got a cool gimmick! I mean, he's not the prettiest guy on the planet, I get it, but he's a hell of a worker. He [has] got snap. He [has] got fire. He cuts great promos. How do you hate a guy like that?"

See that was Taker's thing in the 90s though. The plan was a year in to make him top heel but he got so over they fed Jake to him and the rest is history.

Sometimes the gimmick is to good to produce heel heat

there are a few ways to get real heat

1. intentionally shove a guy down people's throats, like roman reigns, with the intent of getting him disliked

2. not doing cool moves, this is rollins biggest problem, he does so much cool ****, people want to cheer for it

3. you've got to be willing to get the fans so mad that they want to hurt you and from the sounds of it very few want to go there.

4. no t-shirts, you're a heel you shouldn't want people wearing your shirt

SES Punk was one of the shining examples of this.

KO I think could really get fans to hate him if he wanted. His character and antics are there already. The way he handles his Twitter is also hilarious but so heelish

I could see him go into pure prize fighter mode where he refuses to do big spots in tv matches just to piss crowds off.

So just 10 minutes of head locks and yelling at the crowd.

Even in the Elimination Chamber the next month where he eliminated R-Truth and cut a promo in the middle of the match for about two minutes was gold. And then Rey Mysterio came out of his pod and set up that program.

SES Punk was great.

it's very hard now to be a heel that gets real heat, especially when vince sends them out there to do photo op's and sign autographs

i am going to nitpick owens here, because he does something very damaging to his heel cause..

and that's when he bashes michael cole, most of the audience does not like him, especially the hardcore fans. if jim ross was sitting in that seat, he could really get some heat but since it's cole...it makes him cool in the eyes of the fans.

i mean it's great, it's funny but in terms of being a heel that generates hate...its not gonna happen that way

Zayn is losing a lot of clean matches. I know his wrestling will get him over, but KO could be interrupting all of these to start their mega feud.

What? This is exactly how they should be booking Zayn.

He's the underdog. Underdogs don't win, that's what being the underdog means. He will try to win a lot, then he'll losing at the final hurdle. The entire point of his arc is going to be that he tries many times, and fails many times; but he never gives up, works hard, and tries again. Then finally he'll win the title and it'll be an amazing achievement. (And then Owens hits him with a briefcase.)

If he comes in winning right away then what's the point? You just trash his entire story. You don't need to protect an underdog, they need to fail.

Enzo and Cass defeat The Dudleyz.

Reigns and AJ had an in-ring promo. Anderson and Gallows attacked Reigns to a huge pop as AJ watched from the bottom of the ramp.

Backstage, AJ said he had nothing to do with the attack.
