WWE: Raw and Smackdown Part 4 - The Paul Levesque Era

One of the more underrated Hogan "You're fake as f***" moments was when he was riding the Lightning bandwagon during the 2015 SCFs and talking about how Jonathan "Toes" didn't stand a chance...

Sheamus went on CVV and mentioned his tubby stature when he returned. He essentially blamed himself for being unmotivated after being turned down for a Sheamus v. Gunther Mania match.

But he then noted that he was watching RAW after Mania and saw a vignette for "Sheamus returns next week" and said, "I am?"

Regarding the booing of Hogan, I think his celebrity endorsements at several Trump rallies likely played a big role, perhaps the biggest. You limit your fanbase by being politically divisive. That's gonna hurt the potential beer sales.

Triple H said it was their largest arena gate ever so I think he wasn't including all the stadium shows from past Wrestlemanias. It was weird he would even make this announcement to the audience though.
Largest arena gate ever

“We gouged you ignorant plebs more than any other crowd in the history of our business. Congrats to you guys!”

"I want to support a promotion owned by a billionaire and in no fear of going under by buying their PPV." 🤔 Isn't it ultimately not "our" business how people want to spend their money?

Inject Brock Lesnar vs Jacob Fatu into my veins

Honestly there's plenty of new blood for Brock, which is weird because he hasn't been gone all that long.

Brock vs. Jacob. Brock vs. Gunther. Brock vs. Bron.

I wanna say Brock vs. Bronson Reed wouldn't work because Brock couldn't suplex the shit out of him, but Brock can do way more than his suplex schtick, which would honestly be a fun change.

Relax mate. Just saying it's a weird thing to brag about.

Brock v Reed would work imo. I think Reed has the athleticism to pull it off and make it all flow together decent enough. Neither is against working crazy stiff matches either. Seems they both prefer it even.

I was watching this year and thought for sure they removed the WTCs from the New York skyline, and later realized they did not.

But oddly enough became aware that the did remove them for some time, and then put them back in a few years ago.

There is a scene where he visits the top of the WTC that is almost always cut for syndication.

Scene doesn't really serve much purpose outside of selling NYC tourism (the entire 2nd movie is basically a giant commercial)

Hogan is like LeBron when it comes to the lying and insincerity.

It's more than just politics or a racist rant from 15 years ago.

In the case on Monday night, it was clearly real politics with some of the racist ranting sprinkled in.

Most fans don't care or know about Terry Bollea's back-stage behavior or how he used his creative control or what lies he's said on podcasts. It's just that small subset of the wrestling fanbase that care about any of that stuff. The Internet Wrestling Community that are aware of Terry Bollea's real life antics act like they are the majority when in reality they are the minority and a small one at that. That audience Monday night was mostly casual fans, celebrities and TV execs.

What you had Monday was a strongly pro-democratic state that saw essentially Donald Trump's own mascot appearing in front of them. They didn't see Terry Bollea, they saw the character Hulk Hogan, that wrestler guy from the 1980s who at the RNC and Trump's last big rally, heavily promoted Trump in full character. At the RNC he was Terry Bollea for all of about 10 seconds.

Elijah Burke says it better than I could

Fluffy was in attendance and felt politics was the main reason.

(NOTE: I'm not pro or anti Trump)

Does he though? 🤔

The only place he got cheered at recently was... at Trump rallies?

He's never been booed at a WWE event before, he's been a well known piece of shit for decades. The boos are new in terms of WWE. The e40th anniversary of Hulk-a-Mania in 2024 wasn't booed.

It's pretty obvious his politics and recent appearances with the Orange Man played a huge part of him being booed.

It sure does not make him more likable.

The Undertaker, while also a supporter, is way less annoying about it.

Where did I say he was likeable?
Undertaker never appeared at a Trump rally, you're kidding yourself if you think that doesn't matter.

I didn't know reactions from major shows is all that matters. The bottom like is when he has appeared, he wasn't booed... usually in more conservative states. unless you're part of the IWC, most people won't have a clue Hogan is a piece of human shit. LA is arguably the most liberal city in the US, and his politics 100% played a part because he's made a point to be extremely visible about it

Like I said, most of the general public probably didn't find out until the Vince Netflix documentary about the backstage stuff. I don't recall if he was on a Saudi show a few years ago but other than the Wrestlemania bit with Titus, I don't remember seeing him appearing in any other WWE event recently.

Why does "recently" matter so much? Wasn't it like 2005-2010 he was outed as a racist prick? and it didn't sour his reactions. and most of the general public won't watch the McMahon documentary

most of the people who watched that doc aren't wrestling fans - not even casual ones who only watch WM and SS. fans have known for a while now that Hogan is a very flawed person
