Player Discussion: Rasmus Kupari

Or any goal scoring ability. He is playing well on the 4th line but is very likely always going to be a black hole for offense. 4 points in 62 games as a Jet is pretty telling about how much offense you can expect from him.

Agreed, I'm happy with his play but the guy has a career high of 15 points and is pacing around that amount this year. He's closing in on age 25 and is largely what he is as a player at this point. He's not likely ever going to be a top 6 player and that's ok as we can use his forechecking, faceoffa and PK in a depth role.

He is a really good fourth line center. Id really be interested to see him and Names swap for a a few games. I really do think his speed on the forecheck would give really talented wingers space to make plays. He cycles well but i would like to see quicker reads in the O-zone when he has the puck. He is a smart player and i do think with better wingers he will do well if he just keeps it simple

Kupari in the top 6, truly desperate times. 24 years old with nearly 180+ NHL gp. hasn't really shown an ounce of top-6F potential here or in LA. similar rationale that people use for Stanley: he's v likely closer to "is what he is" at this point of his career.

It’s never really worked here well or often, has it? Vesalainen, Heinola, Kupari and probably others I’m forgetting - busts.
Aside from Teemu Selanne, Teppo Numminen and Patrik Laine, the Jets have not had a lot of success with Finns (and Laine hasn't gone on to much success since leaving here). I guess Armia was fine.

But Jokinen, Miettenen, Luoto, Maenalanen, Vesalainen, Niku, Heinola, Kupari...eesh. Can Brad Lambert turn it around?

My feeling is that Finns for the most part are more defensive and fail to show offense. It's more their systems. I'm not surprised the majority of them struggle with scoring

So long, Finnish James Wright

If you manage to chip all the stone off those hands, feel free to circle back since we own your rights still

I liked Rasmus and hoped that he'd take the next step. He's never really scored well at any level though, and we need guys with a little bit of scoring touch in the bottom 6

That moose team last year was so bad. The offensive potential and ceiling of that team was real low. 37pts led the team in scoring.

It was definitely an underwhelming individual year, especially YoY but contextually the team stunk offensively.

I sure hope so, we really need him to work out.

Do we really? I sure hope not.

Lots of hope here. I hope last year's unimpressive performance was the environment, not him. But players who have performed like he has so far don't generally make a big impact in the NHL.

I hope he comes into TC and kicks the door in. But my expectations are low. I'm more optimistic for Chibrikov and even Rashevsky.

Despite Lambert’s team mates he still had a very disappointing year. Salomonsson and Toninato had a similar scoring rates. He wishes he was as good as Dylan Coghlan.

If we are hoping for top 6 for Lambert he better do a hell of a lot better next year regardless of his team mates.

In the sense that we need top six centres yeah we really do, Lambo and Yager are it for top 6 centre potential in our pipeline, once Scheifs declines we are in trouble unless one of these two can step up to the plate.
Both were drafted in the first round ... I'm pretty sure at least one of them will be a top 6 centre.
It would not surprise me either if Chevy trades one of them for a top 6 centre with term at the draft.

I had a hard time understanding deployment last year - didnt see how any of that helped foster development
