Or maybe it is a good core and the coach failed to put them into a position to succeed? Casey was known for zone defence, and he hasn't been able to figure out how to combat the new era of ball.

So you're saying our core played up to expectations and it's 100% on the coach? Our players don't need to take any responsibility? So Ibaka played great? Casey was the reason he was missing all those shots?

Also, if you watched, you would know our coaching staff tried different strategies against LeBron. We tried Zone, we tried the double, we tried Man. Casey does deserve blame but it's crazy to read people say it's 100% on him

This was their year and what did they do? Got **** on and embarrassed by a mediocre Cleveland team. What does that tell you about the players we have? It's not just coaching.

Whatever. You said that they haven't "proven they can win". Did anyone say they have?

A lot of angry people ITT. Take it easy guys, it's just a friendly off-season discussion about a pro sports team, we should all have many more important things in our lives to think about if you want to get angry about something.

Maybe put Poeltl in to guard Love? Maybe not allow LeBron to switch so easily and have Miles, DeRozan or even Lowry guarding him? Don't put JV or Miles on Love? Don't play zone with Love, LeBron, Smith, Korver, and Hill on the floor? Bench guys when they aren't shooting well and costing the team a chance to win? Don't wait until it's a 15-0 run to call a timeout? Actually draw a play out of the timeout? Do anything to frustrate LeBron? Marcus Morris was partly right, the Raps can't guard LeBron, but it's because of the personnel and schemes being utilized. The fact that anyone outside of OG and Siakam was man to man with him is a coaching error.

You didn't answer my question
So it was 100% on Casey that we got swept? All our players played up to expectations?

In a chess game is it the ponds fault for a wrong move or the person moving it?

Basketball is a continuous chess match, coach's needing to strategize and implement a strategy to put its opponent away. As people have mentioned, players can only contribute the end result, and if they don't the coach needs to pull them. The coach needs to put them in a situation to succeed. If not their deficiencies are magnified. For what ever the reason was, Casey didn't coach the team. Yes players could have played better, but the team gave up. The strategy that Casey had wasn't working and he started grasping at straws at which time the team lost faith in his coaching and gave up.

I too am not saying all players played to their capabilities. But in the end, its up to coaching staff to implement change to make the team you have succeed. The Raptors didn't lose 3 straight all year let alone 4 straight. The team gave up on Casey. And he has no one to blame but himself.

The players are saying all the right things after his dismissal . But the truth will come out. JV didn't like his minutes and role reduced after a monster 1st game, Ibaka didn't like his benching, Derozan didn't like his benching, Lowry didn't like the decisions Casey was making with calls and benching. Poertle never saw much of floor after game 2.

Yes I blame the coach....as should you.

Can't wait until we have a new coach, make the playoffs and then fail again. Then get to see people try to do mental gymnastics in here saying it isn't coaching but we need to "retool" and tweak.

This is pretty funny coming from you, that blamed the Leafs youngters struggles on Babcock(you know another coach)
The double standard is:facepalm:

The coach was a problem too for the Raps, but ignore that at your desire.

Strawman argument, nice. Comparing a sport that has 12 forwards, 6 D that cycle all game time versus a sport where 5 guys play a majority of the game time. Personnel management is way more important in hockey and how they're handled since they have more limited time on ice. We have seen what superstars do in the NBA. But continue deluding yourself about that.

Oh im sorry your projections of Marner and Nylander scoring 100 points didnt come true, im sure that was the coaches fault.
This is exactly the same thing, since You can keep putting excusing Casey, and blame the players as long as its not the Leafs, but continue deluding yourself about that.
