Rantanen vs Necas points race to end of season.

Yup, thats Laine as well, this will bode well for him, as teams put 2 and 2 together and are like "So this Rantanen fella was amazing with a play driver like MacKinnon, but now without one he sucks, similar play level as Laine in a bad line on Habs.. it should mean that if we pair Laine with a play driver, then he will be as dominant as Rantanen was in Colorado. Cathy can you give his agent a call and offer whatever this Rantanen fella is getting, make it asap pls, thx hun."

The more interesting comparison will be: how will Rantanen perform in Canes compared to Necas past performance for Canes this season (1.12 ppg) and how will Necas perform in Avs compared to Rantanen’s past performance for the Avs this season (1.3 ppg). This way we can see if any team did an up or downgrade.

Martin Necas is currently at 1.09 at 11 games played.
Mikko Rantanen is currently at 0.375 at 8 game played.

I was worried about chemistry with Mack as he is like a scientist and Necas is like an artist. Thought Necas would drive him crazy. If they can build some chemistry it could be fun to watch that line with Makar. That is 4 nations cup speed.
 
I'm really surprised at how badly this worked out for Rantanen.
I expected a slight dip, like 10% at worst 20%, but this is just a total market crash.

One has to hand it to the Avalanche who surprised him by trading him, and also seem to have exposed him, at least for now.

Will be interesting to see if this continues.

Yeah I knew the MacKinnon factor inflated Rantanen’s stats, but this is way beyond what I thought would happen after he went to Carolina.

Granted Aho is apparently playing poorly as of late, but that stat line is brutal.

For comparison, Casey Mittlestadt now has 4 points since the trade.

dont panic about rants. good player, he'll find his way eventually but probably only going to be ppg player with the ice time and system the canes play.

He was on pace for his fourth consecutive 100p ish season and 8th consecutive season where he's PPG or higher. If you think him getting traded to a struggling team mid season and then struggling for a couple months before free agency makes GMs think he's no longer a 100p winger you're nuts. I'll quote you when he signs his deal. He's 28 years old and will be the prize cow of the offseason.

The 4 nations production should have zero value to his contract negotiations

He already has two points tonight.

I’m still not certain if I like necas on Mack’s wing. Think I like Val better. Move necas to 2c and we’d never score again lol
