I was worried about chemistry with Mack as he is like a scientist and Necas is like an artist. Thought Necas would drive him crazy. If they can build some chemistry it could be fun to watch that line with Makar. That is 4 nations cup speed.

I'm really surprised at how badly this worked out for Rantanen.
I expected a slight dip, like 10% at worst 20%, but this is just a total market crash.

One has to hand it to the Avalanche who surprised him by trading him, and also seem to have exposed him, at least for now.

Will be interesting to see if this continues.

Yeah I knew the MacKinnon factor inflated Rantanen’s stats, but this is way beyond what I thought would happen after he went to Carolina.

Granted Aho is apparently playing poorly as of late, but that stat line is brutal.

For comparison, Casey Mittlestadt now has 4 points since the trade.

I'd say NHL GMs pay attention to how the players are playing... that's their job.

He was on pace for his fourth consecutive 100p ish season and 8th consecutive season where he's PPG or higher. If you think him getting traded to a struggling team mid season and then struggling for a couple months before free agency makes GMs think he's no longer a 100p winger you're nuts. I'll quote you when he signs his deal. He's 28 years old and will be the prize cow of the offseason.
