Necas is a better fit on the Avs than Rantanen on the Canes. This will give Necas the edge in points, in addition to playing with higher end talent.

Unreal, Marty is going to outscore Rantanen, most likely, when this is all said and done. Necas is getting opportunities in Colorado that he never would have had in Carolina. Avs are clearly a better fit for his style. They will have 90-100 point player in their lineup next year for $6.5 million. Unreal. Back-to-back GWGs as well.

For the Canes, hopefully Mikko can figure things out. He has had a few good opportunities that just missed. I am sure things will go his way eventually. Canes definitely need a big, strong finisher and Mikko does provide that, but he isn't going to get golden opportunities and looks like he did in Colorado. Hoping he can still score at a 40-goal pace the rest of the way.

Avs are clearly the winner of this deal, so far. Great job by their management team proving people wrong so far.

Fellow Finn Artturi Lehkonen seems to be another beneficiary of this trade so far, he has been getting to play with MacKinnon and Necas, and the line is on fire right now.

He has been a pretty good playoff performer for Colorado as well.

Teams should be wary of giving Rantanen the behemoth deal he is looking for.

He works great on a line with someone that drives the play and Mikko is there to finish the plays. It doesn't work nearly as well if he needs to be the guy. However, he wants to be the highest paid winger in the game.

Still super early in his time with the Canes to declare this.

The fact that Necas has meshed so well with the Avs as fast as he did isn’t something even the most optimistic Avs fans predicted. That said, it has made Rantanen’s VERY early struggles more noticeable.

I'm confident in the evaluation. Mikko wasn't really able to drive the play the last few seasons on the Avs either. Mack and Makar had to do the heavy lifting. They tried Rants on his own line here and there, but the results were noticeably worse each time so it never became a thing.

That being said, he will absolutely produce more for the Canes than in this very tiny sample size. However, the Canes don't have anyone that can create offense out of nothing like Mack/Makar so we'll see how much Mikko will score eventually.

I think Necas is legit and will continue to be amazing for the Avs.

But i also believe Rantanen will be just fine, and this is nothing more than a minor funk that he will soon break out of.
