Mikko is an incredible goal scorer. He’s better than Necas at that. He also has an amazing playoff resume.

However, Necas’ speed and ability on the puck results in him driving the play almost every shift. He’s not a passenger like Mikko has been for a couple of years now; Necas grabs the steering wheel and puts the pedal to the metal.

I love both players. I got to see some highlights of the Avs v Flames from 2/6/25 and Necas was amazing. Holy guacamole.

There’s no way that Rantanen doesn’t pick up his game once he finds more chemistry with the Canes lineup, but Necas fitting in so well right away in Colorado could actually have him finish ahead in points.

Looking very possible now, not only post-trade, but for the whole season, with them only 3 pts apart, despite Rantanen having started with a 9 point lead.

Norovirus ran rampant through the Canes locker room right after the trade. Many guys still deeling with the effects.

I would say let's see how the come back from the break when health and get some practices in together

norovirus suckssss.

i think rantanen just doesn't get the freedom and ice time in the cane's system. he'll be a pig player in carolina but i think his days of challenging for 100 are over

Yeah, problem is he needs to be Batman in Carolina lol. Like you said, rants needs to be your 2nd or 3rd best player. If he’s your highest paid player, expect dissapointment. It’s kinda like kessel and stamkos. They were like 4th/5th best player on their respective cup teams. Rants can be a good robin, just make sure he isn’t paid more then Batman!

This is probably true. Mikko is a great addition to the team but shouldn't be the driver. Aho is that for Carolina, so they are good with Mikko.

Whoa went to bed too soon! Lol. Looks like Necas ended with a good game, 2 pts, and the Avs won!

Hopefully this is a sign of that team clicking!

Carolina - balls in your court!

Edit: 3 pts for necas!!! My bad!

Guys the norovirus shit was going on like 2 weeks ago. It doesn't last more than a few days in your system. It's convenient as an explanation though, for sure.

The worst of it happened last Saturday, and guys were still missing games because of it on Tuesday. So even when you’re trying to downplay the effects, you still have the facts wrong.

Gotcha, so at what point is it acceptable to discuss their play on the ice without couching it in "their tummies hurt"

Again, you try to downplay the effects, but when half the players are literally throwing up between shifts (as was the case last Saturday), that's going to take some time to recover from and get back to 100%. Especially when the recovery time tables aren't the same. One player may be recovered, but if their linemate is still half a step slower, that still f***s up the line.

Not that you really care about any of this. You're obviously more interested in disparaging the trade, for whatever reason.

Can you just answer the question instead of playing victim or whatever this is?

Awww, are you mad that you got called out? Well, let's put our thinking caps on and try and figure out if there's some kind of break coming up that has most of the players not playing hockey and, thus, can focus on recovering. Do you know if such a thing exists?

The best part is the Canes fans talking about how they feared Necas might not be a good fit in Colorado, like wtf.

Where did you hear that? The vast majority said Necas would thrive there

No wonder Carolina never wins anything of note these days, defeatist attitude and need perfect conditions you aren't ever gonna get in the latter rounds of the playoffs.
