What is the rule on offering the 8th year? I know another team that doesn't trade for him or his rights can't sign him to the extra year, but if he stays with the Avs, doesn't sign an extension, and hits UFA then finds out Avs are offering the same other teams are, can he still sign 8 years in Colorado a week into the free agency period? I feel like players have done this but I'm not sure.
