I'm sure we will get to Rantanen once we can get Georgiev's 8 year deal locked in.

I know this is a joke, but this is a good excuse to get in my hot take: I don't think they plan to extend Georgiev. If he stays it's because we're deep into UFA period without a new starter.I'm sure we will get to Rantanen once we can get Georgiev's 8 year deal locked in.

and we're gonna be mad he's a bottom tier goalie. That’s certainly not a hot take.
I don’t think anybody expects Georgiev to get a new contract and stick around as an Av beyond this season.
The org will do the usual 2nd or 3rd round pick trade for a reclamation project or somebody’s disgruntled backup.

Again hence why you'd add pieces to the Meier deal. But that type of trade would be what Mikko would get back at this point, a haul of picks and prospects and a some depth pieces. There is a slight difference between the caliber of player here.
Meier is not in any way, shape or form comparable to the Moose. Night and day difference, really.

Correct. Everyone saying trade Mikko is expecting getting some big win now pieces but that isn’t happening mid season with 5 months left on his contract. It’ll be a couple firsts, a big name prospect, another decent prospect, a ~middle 6 winger(or equivalent dman) and some later round picks. That’s what to expect in a Mikko trade if it were to happen. On other words meh. Might as well ride this core to sunset with Mikko.

I agree. Probably first, top prospect and then some whatever leftovers.Woah, you need to lower those expectations.
1st round pick
1st round pick
Top prospect
Decent prospect
Middle 6 winger
Later round picks
You expect that for a few months of Mikko Rantanen?
