I don't think dropping 13 spots out of the first round should be a celebrated move. He was fixing his mistake and even if you want to look at each move separately the trade itself wasn't good, he used a 1st round pick to shed a contract.
If you look at each as separate transactions, moving a goalie that bad with that caphit and term for just a dozen spots is an excellent trade.

Signing Tavares at #1 is so ridiculous unless we are allowed to change our opinions after the fact. This board exploded in glee when they signed him. Hasn't worked out, but at the time it gave the Leafs some real legitimacy.

These polls should be based on what the fanbase thought at the time. Marner's contract fits in as does the Murray trade.

He has been a PPG player for all these years. a bit overpaid, but hardly "didn't work out"

The Marner overpay is #1 because it's so huge. JT is in the top 7, I mean he is a good player and could have been better utilized if Dubas could build a team. It's an overpay for sure though.

Going Kadri on this one.

Holl over McCann is pretty up there. Murray is LTIR so it sort of resolved itself, stupid move though in the first place. Then Marchment

So far his worst moves are signing the most sought-after UFA in the last decade and overpaying a winger by a million or two, who puts up around 100 pts every year and was a Selke finalist... this board is full of geniuses.
I mean, if these are the two worst things he did (and they aren't), it says more about Leafs Nation than it does about Dubas.

I agree they aren't his worst, the Murray signing is what I voted for, but now I think it is a good move.

Mrazek's contract or Foligno are probably his worst.

Kadri deserved to be traded, and I wish we got the first return we wanted, but the return honestly wasn't that bad. It was only bad because Babcock used Barrie so terribly.

100% agree though, I think it says a lot about our board.

signing Mrazek = bad
trading Mrazek = good

I think one of the best things about him was he moved away from things that weren't working.

They may have been problems he caused, but lots of GMs cause problems and then refuse to fix them
Sure its great that he moved on from some of his mistakes, but these (Mrazek and Murray) were some pretty blatantly stupid mistakes for a GM to be making when almost half the fan base correctly predicted the outcome.

None of those are really that bad either. I'm not here to say he's perfect, or even defend him, but none of these things are horrific.

If I were to pick the worst thing, it'd probably be trading Kadri coupled with signing Tavares. That's all hindsight, too. But looking back, having Kadri and the cap space is likely better for us (and the Tavares signing wasn't bad). I'm sure everyone here was very excited to ship out Kadri and sign Tavares though.
