Slim pickins. Bunting... hmmm. Literally Bunting?? I'll go with signing Michael J Bunting.

Not sure why Draft picks are included. Seems unfair since i'm pretty sure most of that work is done by the scouts.

ROR, Kapanen & Samsonov should be top 3

Kyle Dubas executes his first trade for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

To Florida: Greg McKegg
To Toronto: Zach Hyman

And THAT, right there folks, was Kyle Dubas' best transaction for the Toronto Maple Leafs. His very first one. And it was handed to him on a silver platter.

It was his trade in name only.

Hyman refused to sign in Florida. Because he wanted to play for his hometown team. Babcock was familiar with Hyman from the University of Michigan program and was instrumental in getting the Leafs to trade for him.

Kyle Dubas was handed a no-brainer first assignment and it turned out to be, by far, his best one.

But since he signed off on the trade he gets the credit.

Good job Dubas.

John Ferguson Jr was given a pretty good team and one that had success in the playoffs. And made it worse basically every year he was in charge.

To the people calling Dubas the worst gm in leafs history you want to go back to that?
The good o'l days.

I think this was the best...

TRADE: We’ve acquired forward Jared McCann from Pittsburgh in exchange for forward Filip Hållander and a 2023 seventh-round selection

...And then he didn't protect him o_O:DD

He wanted to rebuild and TPP / LarryT denied it. Same thing that always has happened with Larry T, overpaying old guys and keeping familiar names around that sell merch. This is a pattern now and even extends to the Raptors who should have been sellers a while ago now. They are faced with getting next to nothing in return on what were otherwise valuable trade assets.

McCann is so overrated and usually, the people saying he is good are the same ones who say playoffs are all that matter.

Check his playoff stats and tell me he is who we need. His current contract is 5.5 million.

Thanks for the response.

I actually didn't know anything about McCann, but I wanted Kerfoot gone. If they didn't trade for McCann, and still went with the 4 + 4 protection scheme, Seattle almost certainly would have taken Kerfoot. It could have been addition by subtraction.

Instead of subtraction by subtraction like usual.

Yeah. It still burns knowing that they couldn't pay him. He became my favourite leaf very quickly.

They've been trying to replace him ever since, but Kerfoot doesn't cut it.

He was one of my favourite Leafs players while he was here too.

They could have paid him. But he wasn't a Dubas boy. This wasn't about the money.

It was about Dubas' ego.
