The good o'l days.John Ferguson Jr was given a pretty good team and one that had success in the playoffs. And made it worse basically every year he was in charge.
To the people calling Dubas the worst gm in leafs history you want to go back to that?

Kyle Dubas executes his first trade for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
To Florida: Greg McKegg
To Toronto: Zach Hyman
And THAT, right there folks, was Kyle Dubas' best transaction for the Toronto Maple Leafs. His very first one. And it was handed to him on a silver platter.
It was his trade in name only.
Hyman refused to sign in Florida. Because he wanted to play for his hometown team. Babcock was familiar with Hyman from the University of Michigan program and was instrumental in getting the Leafs to trade for him.
Kyle Dubas was handed a no-brainer first assignment and it turned out to be, by far, his best one.
But since he signed off on the trade he gets the credit.
Good job Dubas.

I think this was the best...
TRADE: We’ve acquired forward Jared McCann from Pittsburgh in exchange for forward Filip Hållander and a 2023 seventh-round selection
...And then he didn't protect him![]()

Yeah. It still burns knowing that they couldn't pay him. He became my favourite leaf very quickly.June 19, 2015

They've been trying to replace him ever since, but Kerfoot doesn't cut it.
