Points don't always tell a complete story. Just because someone might have touched the puck before someone else scores a goal does not mean they had a great game.

I don’t want to jump on the hate bandwagon for this team, as I think there is plenty of time for them to work out the kinks. It‘s like a new or rebuilt motor that needs some tinkering with. But…there is one thing that I cannot get past. Game is nearly over. Out of reach on the scoreboard. You clubs number 1 prospect flying through the neutral zone gets crushed at the blue line by Orpik. A player who in the past has done this several times to the Rangers. You have a 6’7 behemoth on the ice, who looks at the refs as if to say, â€Hey, he can’t do that!â€. Brian Boyle, a player who I have defended here in the past just completely disgusted me. The hit, whether it was clean or not on your clubs number 1 prospects need to be immediately answered for. If this was 1994, do you think that Joey Kocur, Jeff Beukeboom, or Adam Graves would have let that slide? No way. Immediately Orpik needed to be dealt with. For Boyle to not blink an eye, as if it were OK to do that is terrible for the room and overall chemistry of this club. He does NOT, or did NOT have this kids back. And for one of the core members, and supposed leaders of this team to not have a rookies back to me is a pretty big area of concern... “the Codeâ€. In the simpliest of terms, when the game is out of hand you cannot let opposing players take liberties. It’s that simple. If they do, immediate retribution needs to happen. Never let anyone impose their will on your team.

I agree, and even when the game is not 'out of hand' like you've mentioned. There is a time when taking 2, 5 or even a game misconduct is absolutely the right thing to do and those are penalties which teams will gladly attempt to kill. As much as I despise Boston and their faux tough guys who take liberties because of the presence of the real ones, a hit like that would have seen 4 Bruins converging on Orpik immediately.

Two skill guys with a big LW on fors two lines . PYatt and CK can just crash net while Step and Brad play make for Nash and Gaby .
3 rd line has good speed flanking BB's sloth and can mix in some off .
The 4 th line looked very good last night

6'7 - Yes
Behemoth - Not at all. BB is as soft as they come for a large man. He is afraid of everything except pucks (which he gets in front of). But for a big guy, he is so easily knocked down and he cannot fight and he knows it. If he stands up to Orpik (which he must do don't get me wrong) he gets his butt kicked. And so he did nothing. Another reason to send him away.

The personnel hasn't changed enough for that. The difference is the mindset, the guys were really pleased with themselves, i'm sure.

Torts will beat it out of them, I think Callahan's quote in particular after this game says it all, the addition of Nash only helps if they play the same way they did last year.

We also need to shore up our bottom 6 if we are to make a run. Boyle, Halpern and Pyatt look good, the others I am not so sold on. I still think JT Miller gets a call up at some point and impresses.

Do you mean in a suit and tie? BB was god awful last night and on Saturday. A complete waste of roster space. He cleared a couple of loose pucks on the pk (he didn't create the loose pucks). And that was it for the positives. Otherwise, it was another night of poor skating, poor puck control, poor positioning and physical ineptness. How the hell can you single him out as a positive???

It's three times the length of a football season. 1 -5 would be the equivalent of 0 -2 which is certainly surmountable. Right now using that analogy we are still in Game 1.

Nash is a pleasure to watch and is by far the best NYR on the ice. Gilroy/Eminger should play over Bickel. Richards/Gaborik/Hagelin should play together. And for the Orpik hit, as much as we hate it, it's a clean hit. And if it was Staal doing it to Crosby no one here would find it illegal.

I dont think that is the issue because i agree you can turn it around with one good winning streak however i think people are upset at the way the rangers look. Last year even in losses the rangers played tough and fought hard. These first two games the rangers look slow and soft. they look like a pushover. Hopefully the next game we see them with more intensity

It's not the issue, but its the result. The issue is the fact that most guys are still not in game shape, nor developed tight, team chemistry yet. It will come, the talent is there, just needs to be put together.

How does one sign a guy who is already under contract? If you want Connolly, you have to trade for him.

Was at the game last night a few observations:

Conditioning is not good all around
Hank is not Hank..yet
Kreider is lost in a checking role
Boyle is an awful hockey player (sign Gomez, trade BB for a pick) Halpern is a much better player
Nash is dynamic; will be fun to watch
the B's and the Pens took away the clear along the boards and hemmed us in. We need to adjust
Stu cannot play at this level..sorry
Pyatt and Asham looked good in their roles
Staal is struggling big time and Danny G is fighting the puck
MDZ and McD are ready for the season
Richie and Step look slow..although they are spending most of their shifts running around in our zone defending
Cally was much better than Saturday

Torts has the talent; no excuses. He needs to decide on lines and let the chemistry develop. He cannot constantly change them this year. No excuses John. And way too much ice time for Boyle and Bickel. Stralman didn't play enough.

Same thing the Devils did in the playoffs. McD, Girardi, Staal and Del Zotto are intelligent enough to make a smart pass out/carry the puck a bit if the coach would let them. It's guys like Bickel who are dead when other teams defend like this. Del Zotto should get the Extra Effort Award by default this season because he has to play paired with Bickel.
