I think Sather perhaps had a similar thought to mine about too many guys on the bottom 6 who weren't contributing on the penalty kill.

Powe led the Wild forwards in short handed time on ice per game last season.

Powe will fit in perfectly in NY. The Rangers just found Prust's replacement as far as nastiness and edginess.

Perfect player for NY and Torts' system.

Looks like he's on the small side. 5'11, but he's think. 212lbs. Never really posted up any good numbers offensively. But neither does Rupp?

Looks like people are thinking the Rangers got the better player on this one. People seem to like him as a hard nosed grinder.

Will be interesting if they are going to move forward in the East w/out a heavyweight? Or...Is it MASH time?

His skating is superb. He can skoot around the ice with the best of them and he doesn't peel off when he sees someone near him with the puck. I can not even tell you how excited I am to add Powe to a team that needed this type of player.

He's already in the AHL so I'm guessing that they for one want help in the AHL, and for two aren't ready to call him up and have him replace anyone in the lineup currently

I watched Powe play at Princeton for 4 years, always one of my fave Tigers, was always pissed that Rangers never drafted any Princeton players. Halpern was a good one, we are getting him way too late of course.

Trying to replace Prust - check

Bring in younger tough guys over Rupp - Check

Cheap moves, lets see how that worksout.

Yeah, love this move. Powe + Halpern will be great for the PK and grittiness. Both skate well.

Powe may not be as skilled of a fighter as Prust but he brings the same energy.

I hope this means the Rangers like Mashinter's game.

LOL why did MN do this? Very happy with the deal, and I've always liked Rupp...

My guess is that they want to keep Konopka and Stoner on the ice longer, no one else on that team fights routinely.

Very solid move. I always liked Palmieri's skill set, so maybe he can do something and learn a little in the AHL. Powe is a good fit. And like someone said, could open up a spot for someone else to come in and play.

Realistically Bickel is the only guy I'd replace right now, since Powe will take Rupp's place. They might feel that Kreider will be back this week and don't want to bring a guy up just to send him back down

this seriously made my afternoon, see ya later rupp, i always liked powe with the flyers very prust-esq type player, also played two seasons with asham in philly so hopefully the have some chemistry and can fore check well together

Our bottom line was also quite slow with Rupp and Asham on it, Powe gets around the ice.

I think simply put, Asham was outplaying Rupp, and we didn't need both. I said the same thing when we got Asham this summer that we didn't need him because we had Rupp.

Powe contributes on the pk and to our team mobility, Palmieri is an added bonus wild card.
