Beach is not a good fighter, won't be taking on Lucic for example. But Beach I would say is a better hitter than Mashinter. And more of an agitator.

If you had told me 2-3 years ago that the Rangers would turn Tommy Grant into Kyle Beach I would have wondered what planet we were on. Goes to show how quick things change though. Beach could hypothetically never play an NHL game for the Rangers. It's a wild swing for sure.

Rangers BADLY need some swagger...some crazy, some insanity.

absolutely love this. he may never play for us, but getting him essentially for a completely useless player in Mashinter (despite Dagoons "the rangers absolutely love this kid" opinion) makes it a win in my books. upside is there, and we bought low.

I liked Mashinter for what he was in theory. Unfortunately he did not drop the miffs at all as much as one would have wanted in the big league. He was not a horrible player or goon type. I thought his game was OK on some shifts but had lapses in the defensive zone out of position too much. He skated decently and put up points in the A. Nonetheless he is gone now. Beach is a head case for sure. A bit intriguing though nonetheless. There is a slim chance - a la Avery - that this is the crazy spark we have been looking for. But most likely it will mean nothing. Time will tell

In the AHL sure. this smells like a Devils "every pos of ours is gold" post. Hope the kid gets his head right and does that but has to make the team which i dont see happening.

Yeah for sure, I meant if he ever makes it and reaches his potential. I personally doubt it, I just meant his max potential right now IMO is a 15 goal career year like Mike Rupp or something like that.

But I don't know, I've never seen him play.

Beach has the potential to be a 10-15 goal kinda guy, I think.

Beach did take on Lucic when he was 15 and Luci was 17. Was kinda like Boyle's fight with Chara..

Beach is a type of player that everyone on the other team hates. Plus he doesn't back down. He isn't like Avery though, as Avery was a good skater and beach is not. But he will stand up to anyone. Unfortunately from the video's i watches he can't fight. Maybe we can have Beach play on the 4th line eventually. Hes along shot to make it to the Rangers though, but he has better upside then Mash IMO.u

Which is what I said.... I was just saying all the complaints sound similar ....Avery was 26/27 when we got him.... and most def had established himself already.... but all the talk of how bad a person etc etc is very familiar

He actually sounds a bit more like Michael Haley.

But Im sure that doesnt send the same tingle up your leg as Avery.

Stop daydreaming. Beach is useless. Doormats like Edmonton and Florida avoided him and they have a ton of bottom 6 room.

I liked Mashinter.

“There’s been a lot of guys that have made that next step and got a chance here,†Hawks coach Joel Quenneville said. “I guess you’ve got to earn it. Some guys got the opportunity based on how they were playing.â€

Quenneville said Beach, who had 41 goals and 35 assists in 169 games with the IceHogs, could finally get his NHL shot with the Rangers, though he’ll continue to play in the AHL for now.

“You get a fresh breath of air when you go to a new place,†Quenneville said. “The opportunity is probably going to be there and you’ve got to take advantage of it. You wish him well.â€

Don't like this trade because of "opportunity cost". Wasting time on doing their due diligence on this trade essentially trading potential 4th line toughness for potential (at most) 4th line agitation. Remember Avery? He could actually play at NHL level on the bottom lines and occasionally fill in higher, and still he couldn't find ANY takes and had to accept retirement. This one is going to be a total waste.

Beach can play at the 4th line level in the NHL. He was buried behind some promising young talent in Chicago like Saad, Pirri, Moron, Hayes, McNeil, etc.

It's a good move. Buy low, no risk, brings something the entire organization lacks.

any chance he gets a few games down the road with the lack of energy and toughness on this team?? im hoping for him.. was a fan during his draft year.

When you have poopalot and pyatt i think anyone that can stand on skates and wave a stick around should be giving a chance for a 4th line role. That being said we need someone that can give some energy to the team. Also someone that isn't going to be wasted in 4th line minutes. So players like Kristo would be pointless to bring up and play 6 minutes a game. That being said i wouldn't mind seeing Haly or even Bickel up for a little bit to see if they can bring something. A definite upgrade on the least favorite players on the Rangers right now for me.

Side note= Just had Shoulder repair of a Torn Labrum so disreguard any mispelling or grammar of mine.

He seems to of regressed from that year. Hopefully new team, playing style, and locker room will help. Its a can't lose either way.

A big reason as to why he's here is because Mash didn't fight enough. If Mash isn't going to embrace that role, and do what he has to, to play in the big leagues then you aren't getting much out of him. Mash not obliging as much probably keeps him in the minors.

let's wait till and if Beach gets called up 1st.. i hope he does next time Rangers play Flyers or a dirty team

A torn labrum causes bad grammar? lol Feel better.

wha?

Mash had 2 fights in 6GP.....and considering the minutes he got, thats a lot.

Mashinter was dealt because HE SUCKS.

period. He does pretty much nothing out there. He's Aaron Voros without the ability to get his face pulverized. Except AV had some offensive talent.

Mashinter brings nothign to the team. At least Dorsett is annoying, Boyle is good on the PK and on faceoffs, etc.

Rangers have way too many players who are doing nothing, night in and night out.

Pyatt, Pouliot, Moore, Mashinter, and really as of late, Hagelin, Callahan, Falk, Moore, Staal, Girardi, and MDZ....

but at least those guys have a track record of doing stuff here and there.

Pyatt, Pouliot, Moore, and Mashinter have been more or less abominations in their short time here. Get rid of them.

I'm not as down on Boyle as the rest of you are, I think he's a pretty useful role player. Moore too I suppose, as a 4th liner, but much less so than Boyle.

Ideally I'd like to see our team be something like this....

Kreider - Stepan - Nash (Good top line)
Richards - Brassard - MZA (though not enough shooters on this line, and too much defensive "mehness"...this is our weakness...our 2nd line is such a mishmash)
Hagelin - Miller - Callahan (True 3rd line)
Dorsett - Boyle - Beach/Haley/Sean Avery type pest. (energy/forechecking/annoying line)

I want my 4th line to get the other team off their game. I want them to be able to make the other team so focused on them, that Nash can do his thing because theyre not even paying attention to him.

That's what Sean Avery, and to a lesser extent Ryan Hollweg were able to do. We're really missing that, PARTICULARLY since Ryan Callahan has been so un-Callahan-like.

The Rangers made sure to acquire Dorsett in the Gaborik deal. They recognize that they need players who bring intensity on a nightly basis. These guys, while annoying, get other players involved by creating havoc. It was something Avery was great at.

Agreed. Thing is this guy has a screw loose me thinks. I'm a little concerned Sather may have laid a dump in the middle of the room down in CT.

On the bright sight guys like McIlrath and Co. could get a valuable lesson in how to deal with locker room toxicity.
