Brian Leetch give away the puck a LOT. Still one of the best Offensive Dman to ever play. When your a great playmaker your going to force some passes you shouldn't.

If that's your honesty assessment of Leetch and the fact that you'd even being him up in the same sentence leaves us nothing more to discuss. Smh..

I'm supposed to give you a number over years?
You're taking dopey to a whole new level man

You say you watched the Washington series which is 7.

The Rangers play each team in the West twice, and Shattenkirk has six full NHL seasons. 2 X 6 =12. 12 + 7 = 19.

If you were paying attention, which is highly questionable, you've seen him play at least 19 times.

That wasn't hard.

Believing that Girardi is better than Shattenkirk in -any- facet of the game is hockey is about on par with believing the earth is flat.

What does G have to do with anything?
This is about your defensive savior Shattenkirk

I've watched him play a whole lot more than 19 games but I see you have a full grasp on the nonsense.
You really want to continue?
Answer my post. Read it!
What makes you think he's so stellar defensively?

Scouring twitter to get a pulse on what the fanbase thinks of the Shattenkirk signing, most of the people were for it.

Those who were complaining/against him signing, seemed to think Girardi should still be on the team/was a good defenseman still

So there is that

Only 17 defensemen in the NHL since 2011 have allowed fewer shots. See I answer the questions.

Still waiting on that number.

Wow..You went on a stat site and figured that out all on your own even though it doesn't even remotely answer my question.
Good job.

Meanwhile he got scored on more than any of the above stated defenseman lol.

So impressive kid!

PS..You know of all people on here. If you call me out on something I'm gonna bust your chops twice as much just like you do to everyone else on here lol

Shattenkirk being good or bad defensibly is kind of irrelevant when he replaced a guy named Girardi for 1 more million per year to add 40+ points.

How can anyone possibly be worse defensively? The dude would have to shoot a puck into his own net every other game to match Girardi.

I've seen Girardi pass the puck to ovi a few times for a wide open net. Haven't seen Shattenkirk do that:laugh:

Anyone's better defensively than Shattenkirk.
Or is it that he's mysteriously going to turn into a stalwart just because he's on the NYR?
Watch the games!
Should probably take your own advice

This is the bit I just can't understand - how can anyone think that Shattenkirk isn't better than Girardi? G led to so many unforced turnovers in his own end that he not only killed any transition game, but often led to McD getting hit hard trying to recover from G's mistakes and Lundquist getting peppered from high danger shots.

This has probably added a year or two to McD's career and lowered Lundquist's workload.

No. Literally actually no.

He ranks as a top pair D in goals against too, and is a career plus player.

You would be wise not to make up stats that can be documented.

The franchicise got rid of Girardi and replaced him with an elite puck moving defenseman, which is exactly what the team needs. You don't see me complaining.

Now watch AV sulk and play Shattenkirk on the 3rd pairing, "because he isn't a warrior". Remember how he played Yandle?

If we know AV, McDonagh will play with whoever is the weakest on the right side and Shattenkirk wil play with whoever is the weakest on the left side. AV will rely on his warrior/60 instincts like he dd when he benched Skjei-Smith after they scored the 5-3 goal against OTT.

McDonagh-DeAngelo
Staal-Shattenkirk
Skjei-Smith

Sorry Kevin, you thought you were going to be paired with Ryan McDonagh for the next 4 years of your career but you are in fact in for a world of pain.

I don't think this will be the case (Gorton has almost subliminally mentioned this it feels like). However, to be safe, this is why Staal needs to go...

Maybe the best players turn the puck over more, because they have the puck the most on their sticks and the best opposing players hound them.

Furthermore the superstars finish their chances, hence they have less giveaways than the next tier of players after them.

Anyway the last three pages read like the political board

Gorton literally said "we brought him here to play a lot"

I doubt that AV would be able to play him anywhere but with McD or Skjei

If it's Staal and Shatty as the 2nd pair I don't think AV sees the all star game.

I'm throwing a big maybe in here:

MAYBE AV actually will play McD and Shatty together? Maybe this time he gets it? So how about we just wait and see.

Really was horrific and a waste of time.

Can't believe we are comparing Dan and Kevin. But okay, I will try.

If we had Kevin in Dan's heydey......we would be better offensively because of Kevin and Dan was the man defensively. Who is better? Doesn't matter. Simple.

If we STILL had Dan now, and now we have added Kevin......who is better? Kevin. Simple.

Regardless of how people want to view Kevin defensively.......is there really any question as to "will" he make us a better? Me thinks he will, and I just don't get the back and forth here.

Shouldn't even be a discussion. Shatty replacing Girardi is already going to make the Rangers a much better defensive unit next season.

So there is that

I think that is normally the response with any new toy. Gomez, Drury, Redden, Yandle, Staal. etc.

I don't think there is much to complain about this one however. Solid player, who came on the cheap with a hard on for the organization. Oh yeah, RHD. Wins all over the place.

The contract terms are unbelievably favorable and you get a first pairing player like Shattenkirk in his age 28-32 seasons. Huge win for the Rangers.
