How far above the NCAA is the level of competition in the ECHL for goalies?
It's definitely a step up. The ECHL is littered with former NCAA players, many of whom were very good at that level, as well as guys who were really good in juniors but can't cut it in the AHL. To put it this way: as a goalie, you won't be playing against many guys who are worse than what you saw in college. Everyone will pretty much be on-par or substantially better.

I've been pumping his tires for three years.

Anyway, to answer @alko's question, it's probably one of two scenarios for him: either he splits time in Hartford with Shesterkin (probably not an even split), or McCollum backs up Shesterkin and Huska goes to the ECHL and gets most of the starts there.

Probably a mix of the two options. Good problem to have for the organization.
