f*** yea. Now sign Shestyorkin, Kravtsov, and Rykov, and we’re golden. Huska may not have had a great year, but I think he has solid potential. Maybe a 1B goalie in the NHL if all goes well.

Glad they signed him. He's had a rough Junior year but for the most part he's been a strong presence on weaker UConn and Slovakia squads. He and Georgiev have some strong similarities in their games, so I'm excited to see Benny get his hands on him.

He looked pretty good in the WJC, the last time I saw him play. I guess the hope here is he just gets better and works hard as I honestly have zero idea how talented he is in relation to the other goalie prospects in the fold.

I see Georgiev as a future NHL starting goalie. He's 22 and he's already shown that he can steal games at the NHL level and he's no worse as a backup than Talbot or Raanta who were both considerably older and more mature. Georgiev's way ahead of Huska, Wall and Lindbom at this point in time. He's a proven NHL player.

This is good news. Maybe, as an aside, we can avoid the seemingly biennial bonkers 2nd rounder on a goalie prospect we've fallen in love with.

I like the signing.

Obviously there is work to be done, but there’s enough there to at least warrant working with it.

Huska’s bigger than some of the other goalies and goalie prospects in our system, so there’s a bit of a uniqnuess to him.

Gotta work on the consistency, squaring himself a little more to the initial shot, absorbing rebounds, and other elements, but under normal cicumsrances we’d probably be talking more about him than we are.

I'm speculating some goalie additions in the upcoming future for NYR. For next season, NYR have Lundqvist, Georgiev and Huska. None of the keepers that they have now are signed for next year. Tokarski is pretty much a UFA at this point and the same could be said for Nell. Halverson is the only one that could get a contract, but it also might not happen. Shesterkin is rumored to be coming over, but how will that play out with Georgiev. Will Wall sign in the offseason? Here's the depth chart I have, ATM....

Lundqvist
Georgiev (interchangeable)
Shesterkin (interchangeable)

Huska
Halverson

*Insert ECHL starter/backup here*

This is too little for NYR to have in the organization at one season. They could even move Georgiev if Shesterkin is ready to play in the NHL or vice versa. They need to have at least one or two more keepers added for depth/competition. I'm thinking they sign one of these NCAA free agents to help keep pace in Hartford.

Gonna be an interesting logjam coming up....

Wall started splitting starts this year so I could see him making the jump if there's a spot for him.

I'll be curious to see if the Rangers offer Halvy another contract. Best case for him is he's splitting time with Shesty next season if he stays to play in Hartford. He might want a chance elsewhere.

I hope Halverson gets traded.

What is his future before 19/20 start? Tough competition between the pipes, thats for sure. Where should he play? Top minutes in ECHL or backup in AHL?

Awesome. Talk about a kid who's worked his way up through the ranks slowly and has gotten better each season. Dude is calm, athletic and covers a lot of net. I have really liked what I've seen from his game in Traverse and camp.

He definitely can be counted on for some NHL time if necessary and his signing/presence will push George & Shesty, if not replace them if he takes off. This is great. He has been lurking in the system for a while. Happy for him and good to see players exceed expectations no matter what the position. Good sign for the organization and scouting department.

He looked awesome in the Friday Preseason game. Had super good lateral movement

I've been pumping his tires for three years.

Anyway, to answer @alko's question, it's probably one of two scenarios for him: either he splits time in Hartford with Shesterkin (probably not an even split), or McCollum backs up Shesterkin and Huska goes to the ECHL and gets most of the starts there.

How far above the NCAA is the level of competition in the ECHL for goalies?
