Land of no calls..
Kakko to Dallas for........

Hard to say. I'd like to see him go for someone with a similar pedigree who needs a fresh start. But it's hard to shake the feeling that they're going to deal him for a "culture guy" or something like that.

I feel like Kreider would make more sense for Dallas though. Am I way off base there?

Could you explain the -13? I appreciate it can be a team stat, but what's the story behind this?

Team is horrible defensively and our goalie isn't making up for it like he has been in previous years.

That being said, he's far from a defensive stalwart. But that's not what we need him to be either.

Oh he’s really never been particularly good defensively. I would even say bad. The difference is in past years he’s been getting better goaltending. This year he’s got an on-ice sv% of .870.

In terms of HDCF vs HDGF, he’s allowed HDCF at the 13th highest rate on the team, but HDGF at the second highest.

I don't think you're off base- Dallas would be stacked on LW in that event. Imagine rolling out Jamie Benn on your 4th line.

To Montreal the value of ( and not all together.)

Schneider, Kakko, KAM

And then the "the Habs have the pieces but you're likely moving them for these and the Rangers aren't taking what you would be willing to offer"

Lafreniere
Cuylle
Fully understand these two are probably keep and go with, what I imagine will be a retool for the Rangers.

Roobroeck?
Othmann? I assume he's the same as Laf, but any word on why he seemingly isn't playing ? Injured ?

And he probably has trade protection and wouldn't waive to go there, but just a curiosity interest in Zibanejad

Zibanejad has to be one of the toughest contracts in the league to move. The guy just seems broken at this point - his ice time is down -1:23 this season to just 18:22 despite a lack of good alternatives at C for the Rangers. He's already on the wrong side of 30 (31) and carries a cap hit of $8.5M until he's 37.

Not to mention he has a full NMC until the final season of that contract - though quite honestly, I could see him waiving for a change of scenery if things continue to go poorly for him in NYC. That's just a hell of a lot of term for another team to take on even if the Rangers do retain salary.

Schneider is MTL's unprotected 1st. He's in the Cuylle sort of ballpark where it'd require a significant overpay b/c he's young, cost controlled, and good enough the Rangers have no reason to move him
Again, to be clear, saying that's an overpay, so MTL fans dont jump down my throat

Kakko i personally wouldn't be giving up for less than a 1st, given he's young, cost-controlled and good defensively while capable of putting up 35-45 points annually, mostly 5v5. However i don't think the org values him anywhere near that highly. Probably 2nd and B/C prospect territory

Miller is a young Top 4 dman who's put up good numbers when not paired with Trouba up until this year. The Miller-Fox pair was dominating play, but he's also good for 1-2 VERY noticeable gaffes every game, even the good ones. When he's off it gets ugly. Probably 1st+B or C prospect territory.
--------------------------------------------------------
Lafreniere would be Slafkovsky+, which is obviously an immediate no-go.
Cuylle I'm not sure what I'd ask, but its similarly not cheap.
Roobroeck I can't see the org moving at this point, but likely a similar calibre C prospect if anything
Othmann I'd be looking for a 1st min or packaging him in a bigger deal. He's been hurt this year, hence why not playing

Zibanejad you can have for free.

These are all significant overpays. You definitely overvalue players on your team. And the rags suck now, so you’re gonna have to start being realistic on what the return would be on some of these guys.

You are correct. Some are significant overpays. KAM is prob on point.

They are the young guys they would be building around going forward. It makes no sense to trade them for anything absent that.

That’s like you telling me MTL is rebuilding two years ago and I say, great, we’ll take Suzuki, Caufield, Guhle, and Slaf. You wouldn’t say “Gee that’s who we’re building around. You’d need to blow us out of the water.”? You’d be looking to maximize value on your Chiarots if the world to a contender.

The Rangers aren’t trying to move their top young players who are currently their only players performing well. (Maybe KAM). They are looking to move the vets who might hold value to contenders… like a Kreider for example. A Lindgren. Maybe a mildly useful but disappointing guy like Kakko. They won’t bring back a star, but it’s a start.

Rangers have played the easiest schedule in the NHL to date. And they have the 3rd toughest remaining strength of schedule.
5th toughest

I can't see them going anywhere with Zibanajed and Trochek as the 1-2 punch at centre and both with no movement clauses.

But Trouba as captain always surprised me. Who takes that salary? There's a lot of teams that need hard nosed RD so there is probably a market with some retention.
Trocheck's NMC becomes a 12 team NTC in July and it decreases over the remaining twem. 12 teams. 10 teams. 8 teams. 6 teams.
