Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Senators | 3/28/13 | Lundqvist or Clownorella

Honestly, I watch every game, though I don't know why anymore. It is not rewarding, relaxing, exciting or, in any way, enjoyable. I work full-time. I hit the gym on the way home every night and I get home at around 6:45pm. I watch the Rangers until 9:40ish each night, maybe watch other games end or catch the beginning of a west coast game and go to bed. It's a poor use of my time. I'm not getting anything out of it. I'm not being entertained. I'm not enjoying myself. There is no reward, as a fan. If we were Colorado or Edmonton or Toronto, it wouldn't be the case. Not because those teams are better than us, but because their games are entertaining. They play hockey. There's skill, puck movement, excitement. I'll always love the Rangers and bleed blue (and that answers WHY I continue to watch each night despite getting nothing out of it), but it's getting harder and harder to care this season, and not because of the record, but because we're a disgusting, sloppy, heartless, boring, boring, boring team. Hank is the only one I feel for.
Amen brother! That's exactly my feelings:-(

lol people ******** on Lundqvist and Nash of all people.. this is hilarious stuff.. Those are the only 2 stars on this team worth anything.

Agreed. He is better than everyone else. 2006 and 2012 are the only two years he didn't completely carry the Rangers by himself with no help.

2006 was Jagr/Lundqvist, 2009-10 was Gaborik/Lundqvist, and 2011-12 was the first time it was a full team effort.

simply put, this team is just not even fun to watch anymore. It'd be one thing if we were watching enjoyable hockey and losing, but my God its the most boring hockey I've ever seen in my life.

I will always be a fan, but this is getting hard to watch. Earlier on in the season I figured they just needed more time to gel, now that the season is almost done I think this is as good as it gets, squeeze into 8th and a quick exit. This season is an absolute anomaly and I think the Rangers can contend for the 4th-6th spot in a regular year but for this year I've given up on aspirations of the cup

Torts' ability to adapt is totally nonexistent.

Down by a goal? Lets play quite possibly our worst forward of the night, JT, over the kid who had the most ****ing shots on goal.

This is my number 1 issue with this guy.

****ing ADAPT

The Rangers are a perennial 7-8 seed team.

Last season was an anomaly.

Torts has had a boner for Miller since he came up. He has JAM and puck poise yet he turns over the puck more than anybody in the nhl. kreider started off the year badly but has been one of our better players since returning yet torts still doesnt move give him more time than miller

I do not know. Would it have killed him to say something like he is happy to have Zooks back on the team?

Well Zucc says he loves this team, would he say that if he didn't get along with the coach? And something else, how often does Sather sign a top rated player if Torts disagree? That's not exactly a plan for success.

The team with the second least goals per game played the team with the least goals against per game.

Good point actually. I mean, I'm mad but I'm not outraged that our hapless offense got shutout by the best D in the league.

That is positive thinking. Optimistic, maybe delusional, but optimistic =).

Lundqvist is such a competitor. He wants to win. I don't think he will win the Cup here. We're fortunate that he loves the city life as much as he does. Because that's the only reason he'd be back here.

If he wants to win, he won't sign an 8-year extension with this team. He'll either sign a short term deal, see if the team can go anywhere in those two or three years, and if not, he'll definitely sign else where in the latter part of his career.

There are teams in the NHL today that could be a dynasty with Lundqvist between the pipes. Can you imagine how good the Penguins would be with him? Even better than they already are. Or the Flyers over the last several seasons, if they had competent goaltending? The Red Wings in their peak years after the lock out? Many teams could have benefited from his services much more than the Rangers have.

I was having a chat with a mate the other day regrading goaltending and we got around to hypothetical's about how good other teams would be if they had Lundy. the one thing that stood out was; since the lockout (when player salary actually mattered) Tim Thomas at $5m is the highest cap hit for a cup winning goalie. Which begs the question, if a team had Lundqvist, would they have to sacrifice too much depth to fit him in?

Now, it might be a case of 'correlation doesn't equal causation' with that goalie figure, but it is interesting that cup winners for the most part are goalie's that get hot at the right time (Niemi) or young guys on entry level contracts (Quick, Ward).

I'm certainly not saying we should kick Lundy to the curb, IMO he should retire a Ranger, however $8.175m in goaltenders per year is right near the top of the league. If you look at almost every other club with goalie salaries that high, they also have some depth issues.

joke

this team needs youth on their bottom 6. players that go balls to the wall. not players like asham who don't fight or get chippy. need players like neil tootoo prust. guys like that make teams play bigger then they really are. gives them extra confidence.

Newbury reminds me a little bit of Avery, actually. The way he skates, and the way he forechecks.

Too bad he isn't as quick or offensively talented as Sean. If he were, he could be a pretty valuable player. Still like the way he's played during this call up.
