If we don't get a win in either city...Torts is GONE . Even without Nash...we have a better team than either of them clubs .

But he has actually scored 2 PP goals in 43:59 PP time. :amazed:

The rest of the top 9 - Hagelin, Stepan, Miller/Kreider, Pyatt, and Boyle - are not paid to lead the way offensively
They are young and/or regarded as secondary pieces
Hence - together these 6 players have $0,875m, $0,875m, ~$2,600m (combined), $1,550m and $1,700m in salary this year.
That is ~ $6,250m combined - or around one fifth of what the Top 4 guys are getting in total salary.
But their point production is 26 points vs 38 points for the top 4.

So I say - Excuses are like rectums - everybody has one...
There you have the main reason for our bad results
Simple as that - statistically at least
Time to turn this ship around

nash is certainly earning his salary. he's creating all of the opportunities on the ice. just because other guys can't finish doesn't mean he isn't doing his part. i mean.. he's at least earning richard's salary lol. cally has been disappointing at times and good at others. gaborik is a tossup. richards def is not earning, but we can't rule him out for some late-season heroics

Nash, Richards and Gaborik all need to step it up. Nash needs to start scoring more, I couldnt give a flying **** what else hes doing. 7.8 is for the goals. Richards needs to get his head out of his ass, quit making bonehead passes and Gaborik needs to be more consistent.

Asham might not be able to go tonight, that's the only reason Bickel would be playing forward. Kreider and Mashinter are both in.

I think Nash has played well. Very well, But so far has not produced enough...
The others... not so much
Gaborik should be taken off Richards line for good IMO

Kreider - Richards - Cally
Hagelin - Stepan - Nash (when healthy)
Pyatt - Miller - Gaborik
Mashinter (Powe) - Halpern - Boyle
Asham as the spare

Really spreads out the scoring threat over 3 lines IMO

I think using mere G/A/P is a poor way of showing effectiveness, as reflected in that anyone watching the games knows straight away that Nash is creating a ton of offense. Nash's shooting percentage will come up to the norm over time.

I liked Torts' new stat as tweeded by Andrew Gross:

"@AGrossRecord: Torts discloses new plus-minus stat of defensive lapses/offensive chances created. Nash first on team plus-31. Hagelin second at plus-27."

Hagelin has $687,500 in guaranteed salary
$87,500 of this is a signing bonus
He also has $187,500 performance bonuses.
He can - if he fulfills these conditions - make 7,3% of what Brad Richards gets paid this year. just saying...
 
I have a bad feeling that this game will be another snoozefest with Nash, Spezza, karlsson etc out.
Ottawa will probably play a very defensive game like Montreal did last game.
Hopefully I'm wrong!

These guys are getting paid pretty darned well to put up serious points.
Period.
Any GM in the league will tell you that.
I can agree Nash has played well. Very well.
But he has been frustratingly ineffective.
His shooting % is at a very meager 5.3% this year
Previous years it has been:

2002/2003 - 11.0%
2003/2004 - 15.2%
2005/2006 - 18.2%
2006/2007 - 11.8%
2007/2008 - 11.6%
2008/2009 - 15.2%
2009/2010 - 13.0%
2010/2011 - 10.5%
2011/2012 - 9.8%
Career Avg - 12,73%

No. You don't fire a coach who just got the team to the ECF a quarter of the way into a short season. That's not level headed management.

Watching the last game had the same affect as taking a bottle of Ambien. Loffen probably just fell asleep watching and has yet to wake up.

After last game I'd be satisfied with a good all around 60 minute effort win or lose.
