I'm a Vegas season ticket holder & they only place we're supposed to list our seats is on the Knights own ticket exchange. They are yanking tickets from STHs that list their seats anywhere else.

The team's site is so lame, nobody knows where to find it. It makes selling much harder than last year when the Knights were getting along swimmingly with Stubhub.
I'm in a lot of the groups on Facebook and see all the complaining going on. A lot of it is really comical and it makes the complaints that Ranger fans have about the same stuff almost seem rational.

From what I gather and the people I spoke to, they are being extremely selective about who they yank tickets from. There is very little rhyme or reason and it also looks like the people that run some of the Facebook groups are in contact with the team.

The entire situation is out of control. I'm sure Bill Foley didn't become a billionaire by playing nice, so now the organization is playing hardball with the STHs. Once the team saw how much money was being made during the playoffs & especially the Finals last year, they decided they could basically rewrite the rules. Which is hilarious given the fact when they were signing people up before the team even had a name, part of their sales pitch from the Ticket Reps was how easy it would be to resell the seats to the games we couldn't attend. Something tells me a class action suit is in their future.

Well, the Golden Knights sell tickets to make money. They don't intentionally sell tickets for you to make money. They aren't in business to leave money on the table. And that's where the issue lay. The ticket re-sale market has added an additional layer of complexity to the situation. The Rangers know how much STH's are reselling for, so they tier price and adjust accordingly. One thing going for Rangers STH is the resale rule, a NYS Law which states a customer cannot be penalized for resale. I am sure a similar law is not on the books in NV. Maybe it's time to lobby for one..

Unless GN STH's have a signed contract that grants them rights, the team will pretty much have the ability to do what they want. Expect terms and conditions to be revised year to year. What grounds do STH's have to stand on? The words of a salesman?

I'm not a newbie to how businesses are run, especially pro sports. I was a Ranger STH back in the early 90s. Everything you said is 100% true, but the team is being EXTREMELY short sighted alienating people who laid out cash before the team was even approved by the league. They are also quickly pricing potential fans/customers out of the market in a demographic that has proven to be quite fickle. Name one Southwest area sports teams fanbase that isn't comprised mainly of front running transients. That includes the Lakers & the Dodgers.

The Knights are in a very unique situation right now, but things can turn around just as fast if they aren't contending. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out in the next 4-6 years. Don't forget the 800 pound gorilla, the NFL, shows up in 2 years.

The Knights unique situation is they will probably always have customers- the ones who fly in on all those planes and stay in those casinos. They probably figure that if they can't get the money from the locals, they'll get it from the out-of-towners. So what if the arena is full of fans rooting for the road team? I am still making my money... They are looking very short term, but I am sure they wouldn't mind making back their league entrance fee as soon as possible.

If that's their prerogative, they're certainly entitled to it, but don't kid yourself into believing that a miracle run to the SCF didn't drastically alter their short term thinking. If they played like expansion teams of the past & the local frenzy didn't reach a tipping point, none of this is an issue.

Foley wants his cake & eat it too. He wants a partisan Vegas fanbase, but he doesn't want his teams seats to be undersold by one dollar from the box office, to go along with the Knights only resale platform where he also get's the 30% fee for tickets he already sold. The perks of being a billionaire, you make all the rules.

Would he settle for Canadian & Midwest tourists filling the arena, absolutely! But what happens when the Raiders show up & those potential visitors decide they would rather center their Vegas visit around the NFL and a weekend of gambling on football, then coming out to see a ho-hum November hockey game against Carolina or Florida? Not saying the market can't support both, but I think it's curious the Knights want to ruffle the feathers of their STHs this early on in the process.

There's only 8 NFL games which usually take place Sunday afternoon. Vegas has a lot of conventions and those people go to midweek hockey games.

The same issue has occurred in Nashville. An Ex-Yank buddy of mine (Isles fan - I don't hold it against him... much), whom I've known since high school, moved to Nashville five or so years ago. He was like, "Cool. They have a team, and I can drive into town and see a game anytime I want." Well, he saw no reason to subscribe, and chose to pay as he went, and now he can't get his foot in the door of the place. I was down there visiting two years ago, and went to an Isles / Preds game. The Preds were already locked into the WC against Chicago. My other buddy made the trip with me, and he actually got on the local Fox Station to offer his opinion on legal resales, as the city residents were having debates about ticket scalping and resales near the Big Tire...

Anyway, back to the same problem. A run to the finals resulted in a BIG increase in ticket costs, the elimination of partial plans, and the birth of a waiting list. He can't get to a game anymore (without selling one of his kids, which he has been tempted to do from time to time.)

People he knew who have/had tickets had to downsize (4 to 2) or give them up.

So Vegas is not alone. Nashville doesn't have the tourist traffic that Vegas does.

As already posted, Raiders are 8 Sundays. Knights are 41 any-days, at 1/4 the capacity, multiple nights of the week. There are sure to be enough out-of-towners on the strip on a game night who will say, "I cold lose $500 in craps, or scalp two awesome seats to a hockey game..." I am sure ownership isn't worried about the bottom line. They SHOULD be worried about the impression (or lack thereof) they are making on the fanbase.

Agree on all points. There is no right or wrong, it's just simple economics. I was making a point bringing up the NFL & the shortsightedness of the owner. I don't think it's an actual issue for the Knights, regardless of how I feel the team has done business so far.

Nashville is an excellent comparison to Vegas & in their wildest dreams the Knights couldn't have imagined the success they've attained not only on the ice, but off it also. It took Nashville almost 20 years to get this point. Just an extraordinary turn of events.

There has, however, been talk of bringing an NBA team here. THAT would be a major problem for the Knights, but a discussion for another day.

I went to the Rangers game in Vegas last year and was surprised at how many locals were at the game. I also saw a ton of people walking around wearing Knights Jerseys during the time I was there.
On a side note I must have been put on the mailing list for Knights tickets and this is the most recent offer I received. All packages includes 2 nights at the Park MGM or New York New York Hotel which are the 2 closet to the arena.
12/20 vs Isles $275
12/22 vs Montreal $500
12/23 vs Kings $350
12/27 vs Avs $350
1/1 vs Kings $500
1/6 vs Devils $350
1/8 vs Rangers $1375
1/10 vs Sharks $575
When I first saw the prices I was surprised at how much the Rangers package was compared to the other games. I guess the Knights know what they are doing and that Rangers fans will pay.
This package is coming directly from the MGM M Life Rewards program and might not be directly affiliated with the club.

When I see offers like this, it just confirms that like the Rangers, the Knights would prefer less STHs so they can control more inventory.

The price for the Rangers game probably reflects that the electronics show is going on that week. Busiest hotel occupancy of the year.

I feel like the Rangers will play in Vegas that second week of January which is when CES is. They’ll get a lot of people from NYC out there for that convention = $$$

I don't think it should come as a surprise that the strip casinos have a block of tickets.

No surprise here. MGM owns the TMobile Arena, so I'm quite certain they have as many tickets as they want. MGM is also a partner with the NHL now, so there's that as well.

When Vegas season tickets were first being sold, the company line was no casino sales were being included in the numbers. Nobody believed it then, or now.

CES is 1/8 - 1/11, so it's a little curious that the Sharks game on 1/10 isn't being inflated like the NYR game on 1/8.

What % of season ticket holders go to every game? The ability to sell tickets to other people is built into the process.

Anybody have any advice on how to minimize charges from Stubhub for double selling tickets.
Tickets sold on Stubhub and I forgot to remove them from ticketmaster. The Ticketmaster tickets were from my season subscriber account so now the barcodes on the printed tickets are invalid.
The tickets listed on Stubhub were hard tickets and I haven't shipped them yet.

Bad situation, in this case Ticketmaster ALWAYS wins as they have voided your tickets and given them to someone else. So you only have two choices, (1) fess up to Stubhub and leave it in their hands (minimum 20% penalty and probably higher) or (2) locate and buy replacement tickets in the same section at the same or lower row. Since you have to ship them you have no choice but to find them as hard stock on vividseats or stubhub.
