so some guy who isnt a ranger fan says something about us trading for byram and that means we want byram? no sane rangers fan would make that trade. also i sincerely doubt byram is even worth more than schneider. both are decent mildly disappointing players but Schneider is a rhd who has no issues staying healthy. rangers might consider schneider for byram+ but i’d rather just keep schneider and keep playing him at Ld than trade him for byram

Byram is a guy who has had a great playoff run, hot stretches in the regular season, and can play heavy minutes. He was also 16th in EV points this season & played all 82 games this season.

Schneider hasn't been anything more than a bottom pair RD for most of his career.

Rangers would be adding ++ to Schenider to get Byram.

Slightly above average size RD who is only 3 inches taller and 8 pounds heavier than Bo Byram... is a considerably worse skater and transitioner of the puck and has played a grand total of 7 more hockey games than Bo Byram over the last 2 NHL seasons.

Byram's had severe concussion issues in his career. Rangers just got rid of a player like that with Chytil. I could see Schneider being expendable given the Fox and Borgen contracts, but i don't think Byram would be a target

FWIW, Peterka and Cuylle weren't far apart in 5v5 production this season. Peterka 2.34 p/60 vs Cuylle 2.1 p/60. There was only a difference of 5 points.

That being said, the only real appeal a deal like that would have is shifting some of our offensive talent to the right. Otherwise, Cuylle is exactly the kind of player the Rangers need to keep around and not trade in a fairly lateral move.

How does that remove the egg from your face on passing on Eichel and then watching him win a cup the first full season he was away from the Sabres? And then trading away the players that were worth more to you than Eichel, for scraps?

I'm one of the biggest critics of how the Sabres have attempted to rebuild. My takes criticizing the sabres have been correct, just like they were correct on Eichels value, and just like they are correct on this proposed trade too.

It wasn't too long ago that Chytil, Kakko and Kravstov were UNTOUCHABLE BRO! in the Eichel sweepstakes.

Rangers were actually willing to move big pieces at that point in 2021 for Eichel. How many times does this need to be said?
BUF management just didn't want the smoke, instead opting to ship him out west for a lesser package.

Anyways, NYR are not moving Cuylle at all. It's not happening. He is going to be a part of this next top-6 core. I see that now people are starting to realize just how good Cuylle can be, probably from watching the WHC. He's a 16 game type power-forward and the Rangers are developing him nicely.

Well, you came running into the thread to mock Ranger fans after only a couple ranked the NYR players higher, and others simply stated how Cuylle brings some more tangible value where NYR are currently lacking. So, yeah, maybe you think the majority = 5 people.

Beyond that, this is one of the more pointless things I've ever read on these boards. No one here "passed on Eichel" and the ones that wanted to keep those players aren't eating any crow about it. That's not what discussing hockey trades OR eating crow is. And btw, I would have given up Kravtsov or Chytil easily. Kakko and Lafrenière were more of a hesitation, to be sure, but that's what negotiating is about... and negotiating is not what we do here.
