And Hank is getting in the way?

Not just Hank. Overpaying people in general. I don't even wanna think about what Callahan is gonna get. Hank is part of that though.

More so the position he plays. We have 8.5 tied up in the most easily replaceable position. Obviously nobody is going to replace what Hank does, but if we could replace most of what he does and get an offense in the process that would be cool.

It's the whole philosophy as well. As long as Lundqvist is wearing a Rangers jersey Sather will be convinced he doesn't have to do a damn thing except sit there and wait for Lundqvist to get hot and win the Cup by himself.

There was a couple of instances since the lockout where this team should have completely done it over. And here we are still not getting high picks, sill getting players past their prime, still not scoring. It was never blown up because Lundqvist continues to drag a bad team into mediocrity.

The reason why we havent won anything is because our GM hasnt built a good enough team. Youre basically saying you want Hank to leave so we can get high draft picks?

So we get rid of Lundqvist so Sather gets off his ass and starts putting together a good hockey team? Worked so well before Lundqvist got here.

What I want is for the GM to realize this is a bad team from the rotten core all the way out and stop putting bandaids on it. As long as great goaltending is dragging us around, Sather will always think we're on the precipice of a Cup. Look at the team now: 14-14. If not for phenomenal goaltending (this time mostly from Talbot, but that's beside the point) they'd be a basement team right now.

So you want bad goaltending? This team needs a few moves, but we have hope

i can't name 1 devs player other then MARTY!

? They had awesome teams every time they won. You must be thinking of the ****** devils team that beat the equally ****** rangers team a few years ago then proceeded to get trucked in the finals.

You're telling me we're in the same situation we were 5 years ago. We sucked 5 years ago.

No, if you understood the simple math in my post, you would see his contract in 08-09 is the same percentage against the cap that his new contract will be next year!

How can anyone say this cripples the Rangers, or is a terrible contract going forward?

If you're complaining about his contract now, you should have been when he got his last one. It's the same thing!!!

Extremely frustrating people can't understand this very simple concept. :shakehead

I think what he means is it's Hanks fault we sucked the last 5 years because of his crippling contract currently and we will continue to suck because of it going forward.

That's your problem.

The Devils had awesome teams in their Cup runs. Better than anything Lundqvist has ever had.

"Better" is an understatement, those were some of the best hockey teams I've ever seen in my life. Especially the A-line years, I mean those were really insane.

If the cap goes up significantly with the new canadian tv deal which runs beyond the current cba, and all indications are that it will. A Richards buyout, and a $10M bump in cap space, alongside just how much room the Rangers have next year already, there will be plenty of dollars to be spent. The Rangers are at a major crossroads as to what they want to be.

Not resigning Pyatt or Pouliot will clear up $3.2M on the cap, that's pretty much Cally's and G's raise. Current deals at 4.2+3.3= $7.6M for 2 core players. Say they both average out to $5.7M each for a hit of $11.4M. $11.4-$7.6= $3.8M. $3.8-$3.2=.6M. 600k can easily be covered with the cap bump.

This means Cally, and G can be retained. Lots of kids from Hartford looking to come up. Lindberg, Miller, McIlrath. The roster can be supplemented with NHL ready talent, with plenty of cap space to spend on needs.

With the team being what it is now why not speed up the process around Christmas time?

I honestly think unless Hank delivers a cup this deal will be the worst deal Sather has ever done. Everyone that I talk to about this deal that is a Ranger fan is shocked at the money & years Hank got. Even my Chick was like, he got that much??

As far as the Flyers go, I would have rolled the dice. They have no cap space. They would have had to gut the team & they wouldn't have won anything either.

Because we were crippled back then and we're crippled now. This is a crippled organization praying that one player will win by himself.

I agree but what can we do? Just gotta make the right moves

Well I don;'t think the right moves are gonna happen. To me, Sather sent a message today -with that term and that amount of money- that he's going to keep throwing Hank against the wall until it sticks. That's why I'm upset, not because Hank is a Ranger.

We weren't crippled because of Lundqvist's contract! How can you be so misinformed to the facts?...to reality? :help:

Did you expect anything else? This is the Rangers we're talking about.
